My son wears contacts. I just wondering before I order new ones for him for our trip, are contacts something he should wear in Walt Disney World? We are going to the 2 water parks and all the other theme parks. For the rides and places we go to like the roller coaters and water rides like Splash Mountain, should he wear them, would it be a big problem? I don't want him to waist them or have them cause big trouble like one falling out.

My kids wear contacts to WDW all the time. I think just a persons reflexes would keep their eyes closed when needed. As a glasses wearer, I worry more about losing them on rides.

Hmm...I would never consider not wearing mine because I hate wearing glasses. Swimming underwater may be a problem, but Splash Mtn, etc. shouldn't. I'm planning on wearing mine to a waterpark, but I'm not going to go underwater on purpose. It will only be when the slides dump me underwater that I will be under. Roller coasters and all the regular theme park rides, I've never had any kind of problem, but I haven't had many problems with mine in general. Does he do pretty well with them?

I have glasses and contacts - I wear the glasses most of the time - but at WDW I will be wearing the contacts all the time - glases coming off my face, the humidity, having to clean my glasses... all hassles I don't want to deal with while at WDW - the contacts stay in my head and are no maintanance

So if water gets in their eyes it does irratate? Do they wear them in the in the water parks and have no problem? and Do they bring their contact stuff in a backbag just incase?

I have never had a problem wearing my contacts there. How used to wearing them is he? If he is new at it then I would suggest him bringing his solution and glasses just in case he feels he needs to change into his glasses.

No he mostly wears glasses but that was when he didn't have any (when he ran out of them). He says it's hard to put in but he only had them for 6 months then took a break. Is it hard to put in early in the morning, do you rush putting them in and get fustrated cause you can't and you need and want to get the park early? We have the same problem now but with school cause he gets up very late and I don't want this problem on this trip.

I always wear my contacts at WDW, but also always bring an extra pair in case I lose or rip one. I have yet to need the second pair on a trip, but it is good to know that it is there.

I've worn contacts at other amusement parks (I have yet to visit Disney since I have been wearing contacts) - water parks and regular parks with water rides (like log flumes, river rapids, etc) and not had a problem. Just in water parks I don't open my eyes under water (I don't think you are suppose to). I prefer contacts in parks and amusement parks - I'd be too afraid my glasses would fall off during rides and definately can't wear glass on water park slides. I can't just go without contacts or glasses because I wouldn't be able to see anything.

We are a family of 4 blind people and we all wear contacts. I do bring extras in case as someone noted and I also make sure that I have re-wetting drops too. We wear them at the water parks as well. The kids wear goggles when in the wave pool so it's not a problem. DS wears them on the water slides and hasn't had a problem and perfers them to his glasses.

I have been wearing my contacts for a while now, and I love wearing them at WDW. When I was younger I wore glasses to WDW, but now I think contacts are better. You don't have to worry about them falling off or being uncomfortable. Word of advice though....get a travel size contact solution and contact container with you into the parks. Just in case something gets into the contacts like a piece of dust, etc. That was he can just take it out and rinse it off before it becomes a problem. In the water parks I don't wear my contacts because I usually get water in my eyes and the contact moves or falls out. My suggestion wear them in the parks but bring the travel solution and container, and wear the glasses to the water parks.

Our daughter has worn disposable contact for the past 3 years. It is soooo much easier than when she wore her glasses. Now she can just grab a regular pair of sunglasses and is much more comfortable riding everything and visiting the pools. If your eye dr will get them for you, I would HIGHLY recommend getting the disposables. This way, if one gets lost or chlorine in them, toss them and start fresh the next day. Also, she finds having a clean, new pair, especially during the hot months, much easier on her eyes. She just carries re-wetting drops during the day in case she needs them. Have a great trip!

I wore my contacts last year on my trip and everything went fine, I even wore them to the pool. I just made sure that I took an extra pair just in case. I would recommend that you carry eyedrops for contacts with you in case his eyes get dry. The suction that contacts have on the surface of the eye should be enough to hold them in place with no problems, I couldn't imagine one just popping out. I would, however be cautious when going to a water park. I would grab him a pair of goggles just in case. I wear mine in the shower all the time and getting the occasional drop of water in them isn't all that bad. I also would suggest waking him up a little bit early or perhaps letting him shower first in the morning that way while everyone else is getting ready, he can take his time and hopefully get them in with little frustration. I have only had mine for about a year and a half, and I still get very frustrated with mine sometimes.
