I am concerned about some excursions in Cozamel that give boxed lunches? (We booked the Tulum) Do you recommend eating them or bring something from the ship? I am getting nervous about drinking the water, ice, and maybe the food will be too warm and start to grow unappetizing microorganisms!

Any recommendations?
Thanks,
Mrs. G

Interesting question....maybe someone who has used a boxed lunch on their excursion can comment.

If you feel very uncomfortable, just bring your own...can't really go wrong with PB&J!!!

Although we haven't tried the Western DCL cruise yet, we have taken several Western cruises via other lines in the past, and have never had any problems eating the boxed lunches on the excursions. We even took at Tulum/Xel-Ha excursion w/boxed lunch, and all was well.

Even if you get a "fresh" lunch on the excursion, be careful! We went to Xcaret when we sailed on Voyager of the Seas and bought lunch at one of their restaurants. The taste was pretty Americanized, but it was good. Hubby drank coffee and I drank something called "rice water," which tasted like coconut juice. I had two large glasses, and I paid dearly
It must have been the rice water because other than that, we ate the same things.
We did the Jeep Safari Tour through Disney on our 5/25 cruise, and they cooked us lunch at the beach. DELICIOUS, and no unwanted after effects. It was tacos, salsa & chips, and soda or bottled water to drink.

We did the Tulum excursion on the May 11th sailing and had the boxed lunch. We actually think that Disney themselves provided some of the food for the lunch because DW said she thought she recognized some it as being from the ship.

We had a sandwich, some chips, and an apple, and a dessert - I think it was a cookie, but I can't remember. The chips were definately from Mexico, but were sealed. The only thing we were a little leary about was the apple so we decided not to eat it. The drinks were your choice of cola or beer. Both were bottled and I had the beer while DW had the cola.

Neither of us had any trouble with any of the food that we ate during the trip, including the boxed lunch, but we did kinda play it safe.
