are boma and tusker house similar?

just wondering if they are, how similar? trying to decide if we should eat dinner at both places or switch it up?

Well....
We just got home last night at midnight from a fabulous 6 night trip to Disney.... the last 2 years we had lunch at Tusker House and we love, love, love it there!!! This year though, I decided to try Boma for dinner instead with all the hype here on the disboards about how much more fabulous it is than Tusker and how Tusker is referred to as "Boma-lite"....

We ate @ Boma last Sunday and all I can say is I won't repeat it. Don't get me wrong, the food wasn't bad, I just felt they had less options than Tusker House and I preferred Tusker House's offerings to Boma's. I did however enjoy the Falafel with the dip @ Boma, but the salads, soups, etc... were very unappealing to my family. My picky eater girls actually enjoy the curry chicken and other exotic food choices on the Tusker buffet, but Boma's were a bit too much for them to even attempt

I was toying with adding in the Tusker House lunch another day only because I was disappointed with Boma, but the only day we could have done it would have been the day after Boma and DH didn't want to do buffets 2 days in a row

I've heard the same thing and we've ultimately gone with Tusker House. I hope it was the right call!

We've eaten at both, more recently Tusker House which was one of DH's favorites. We liked both but if you're doing AK park, TH is by far more convenient especially if you rely on WDW transporation.

But what I particularly enjoyed about going to BOMA's was getting to see the AKL & the savannah. But now that I've done that, unless I was staying at AKL, I'm just as happy to dine at TH on our AK day (lunch or dinner, have not done the character meal bfast).

I think both buffets were good & we had a good dining experience at both. Either one offers interesting choices IMO.

I'm having the same delima. We are staying at AKL, so I almost feel guilty NOT eating at Boma... But, we LOVE Tusker House. I don't really want to take a chance that we may not like it as much, but I wonder if I'm going to feel the same way once we get there...

My answer won't necessarily help since we're not going until December, but we have ADR's for TH in the morning, then Boma for the evening. Doubt there will be much need for us to eat in the middle of the day

At least I'll be able to do a good side-by-side comparison when I get back Can't wait to hear what you guys decide to do!
