Is the selection at Tusker House and Boma similar? If you have eaten at both which do you prefer? I currently have an ADR for lunch at Tusker House, should I switch for dinner at Boma? Would it be too much to eat at both in one day?

We have eaten at both....enjoyed both, but really like the atmosphere at Boma!!! Loved being at the AKL and walking around taking it all in. IMO, the food was a little better at Boma.

I thought they were very similuar...we did both with the free dining...unlike most people I would pick Tusker House over Boma

We did both. I LOVED the Tusker house, didn't care too much for Boma. I would say Boma is more authentic than Tusker house. Did I mention I LOVED Tusker House???

When you say authentic, I would really question. I have spent time in West Africa and I find that most americans do not care for actual African food from that area. So I would guess that items like Ghanan Tesit are not on the menu.

have eaten at both...really, really did not like Boma dinner at all. Lots of people like it, a lot...but we just couldn't get into it at all. And dinner was packed -- long, long waits at the buffet - crazy crowded and way too many unsupervised kids at the buffet stations. Now if the food had been good, the hussle-bustle probably wouldn't have bothered us so much. But we just could not get into things like lovely looking BBQ ribs that burned your mouth with the Cinnamon Red-Hots flavoring. Or totally tasteless side dishes...our main reaction to the food was "is there no happy medium with the spices here?" Either way too much seasoning, or none, seemed to be the theme. Now breakfast at Boma is another meal entirely --we absolutely LOVED the breakfast buffet. Best selection of traditional breakfast foods, hot & fresh...and there were a few ethnic offerings, too. And quiet at Breakfast. Animal Kingdom Lodge is worth the trip to see--make sure you go out on the verandah there to see the animals, and explore the fantastic lobby.

We much preferred Tusker House...it had some ethnic dishes, but much more pleasantly spiced. A lot of the salads/side dishes reminded me of the food at Morocco in Epcot and some of the spices used at Sanaa. I'd say about 1/2 the offerings were very Americanized foods -- hint of "ethnic dish" without an overwhelming use of spice. Tusker was also very busy, but seemed to be set up better to handle crowds at the buffet stations. Every table was full while we were there but we rarely waited for more than one person in front of us at any buffet area.

If you want to try both, I'd do Boma Breakfast -- it is a gorgeous hotel & lovely restaurant. Then do Tusker House for dinner (you're not going to want a big lunch after Boma breakfast, trust me! I'd guess a snack would get you through mid-day after Boma buffet.)
