Are all cruisers non-smokers?

I have too add my 2cents worth here, there were only 2 odours I found offensive on our Oct cruise. The 1st one was people who wear WAY too much perfume and the people who needed a little perfume . I noticed a few people in the elevators who maybe thought bathing was optional on vacation and people who bathed in their perfume. And no I am not a smoker and yes I am asthmatic with a very low tolerance for cigarette smoke. (I make my husband smoke outsideand must brush his teeth after each one.)

I can tell you that these family shows at Rockin' Bar D are very popular... often "Standing Room Only". My DW and I tried to attend one evening. We finally found one seat. I stood while my DW sat, and the lady next to us lit up a cigarette. Everyone else in the audience seemed to be enjoying the show... and the performers were certainly talented, but we couldn't enjoy the show because of this one lady.

I am not a smoking advocate, but it sounds like from the responses to the post, that you guys never encountering smoking anywhere except on the Disney Cruise. Have you not been in an elevator in "other places" where you have smelt smoke? Have you not been to a restaurant and walked through the smoking section and smelt smoke? Do you not have some distant or close relative/friend that smokes? The problem with smoking is not a "Disney" issue, but a national issue. I don't think Disney is going to be able to set out to right all of America's wrongs. Disney is no different than any other vacation area (except for the few non-smoking cruises). I agree with one's right to avoid smokers, and those people should go on a non-smoking cruise. I don't understand why you would go on a cruise where you know smoking is permitted (even though it is in very limited areas), and then complain about it. Do you think the adult clubs should not serve alcohol because a recovering alcoholic may be cruising? Should there be no medical staff, because some religions don't believe in medical assistance? Should there be no seafood because some people are alergic to shellfish? We live in an imperfect world. I think the stress that some people are putting upon theirselves regarding this issue is more harmful than a small puff of second hand smoke. While adults are worried about second hand smoke, our teenagers our committing suicide at alarming rates. Parents fail to put their child in child restraints/child seats, and they are dying on the roads. Our educational system is failing our children, but does that mean we simply don't allow them to attend school? I agree 2nd hand smoke isn't healthy, but there are much worse issues that many families never face and confront. Because it is always easier to cast blame on others than look to their own lives. If smoking will ruin your vacation, PLEASE go on a non-smoking cruise so you can be happy.

Actually being from NY we have some fairly tough smoking laws here(cigs are going up to 7.00 a pack in June here!) so I am really not bothered much locally by people smoking around me. There is no smoking even in outdoor sports complexs here, no smoking within certain feet of the front of the buildings and all restaurants are non smoking unless they have aseperate enclosed "smoke room" to keep the smoke locked in while people eat in there. When I go away on vacation I forget that not all states are the same but regardless I will just stay out of all the things that go on in the enclosed places where adults smoke on the ship.

those things sound like fun.....exactly the type of activity i'm going on the cruise for.....i hope they have them in other places as well (the non-smoking lounge/ studio sea)...
i'm a loves music/ loves to dance sort of person (i LOVE line dancing)....i was really looking forwards to it...

I'm a non-smoker (hubby too) and I was very concerned about smoke before our cruise on the Magic a year ago. Happy to report we were never bothered by it even once, and I'm very sensitive to smoke so was actually surprised about it. We did have a verandah room and we must have had non-smokers on either side of us as we never smelled smoke when we were out there (cigar smoke would be even worse, I think they should ban that on verandahs!!). I don't remember ever seeing anyone lighting up at the pool area, and even when we went to Rockin' D bar after dinner and the show we were never bothered by it. We went to the bar almost every night, and usually sat at one of the little round tables on the second level, right up by the railing. We thought the ventilation system worked fine. Maybe because the Disney ships are "family" oriented, there aren't as many smokers as on other ships? I don't know, but I wouldn't let worrying about encoutering a little bit of smoke spoil my Disney Magic cruise. It certainly didn't spoil ours! We had the best vacation we've ever had, and we can hardly wait to go back next January!!!

I agree completely! I was never bothered by smoking on the cruise, and never "smelled" it on people, or was irritated by it. Nor have any of the rooms on our previous cruises ever smelled like smoke.
