Are ADRs necessary for breakfast?

In the past, we have never needed an ADR if we decided we wanted a sit-down breakfast, so it didn’t occur to me to make any for our upcoming trip. Now there aren’t any available at our hotel (GF) for the dates we are there. I plan to try the walk-up waitlist if we decide we want to go. But I am just curious about people’s experience with getting a table-service breakfast without a reservation nowadays. Is it tough to do?

If I want a sit-down breakfast, I make an ADR regardless - but ESPECIALLY now with limited options and limited seating. I got Chef Mickey's via the walk-up waitlist right at opening in February - and and ADR for Topolino's the day before I wanted it. But I was at Poly and could never get an ADR for Kona (never tried the walk-up for breakfast as I'd rather be in the parks, so I limit my sit-down breakfasts).

We stayed at GF and had this problem—it is a popular ADR because people book it to walk/boat/monorail to MK after breakfast and avoid the TTC. We were able to get a ressie the night before when people cancelled though.

At this point, I would not take any chances with getting in with walk up. Make the ADR and modify it if you can't go.

With the new walkway open, I see GF cracking down on mobile ordering and enforcing parking regulations soon just as at the Contemporary. Inevitably there will be people who drive and park and stay much longer than the three hours an ADR should allow you.

Agree with other posters that ADRs are highly recommended given the reduced availability. I saw people being turned away at Ale & Compass (Yacht Club) a few weeks ago. Checking the night before is a great strategy as people do cancel. The reservation finder services can be helpful too - particularly for something as popular as Topolino's (Riviera).
