Are ADR necessary for downtown disney?

We were thinking we might like to his a TS place in downtown the night we arrive. (Possibly Planet Hollywood or Rainforest Cafe or some other such place). We don't really want to make ADR though, since there's just no predicting what time we might actually *get* there (if our flight is delayed or whatever else may go wrong). Our flight lands at 4:05pm, and we're taking ME to POFQ. After we get checked in and settled, we were going to hop on the boat to downtown.

Do we have any hope of getting a table somewhere? Or should we plan for CS?

Is your arrival day a Friday or Saturday? Downtown Disney is busier on the weekends due to local crowds.

As it appears you'll be there during prime dinner hours, you will certainly have a bit of a wait without an ADR. One idea is to call a restaurant of choice once you have a better idea of when you'll arrive. I believe most (if not all) of the Downtown Disney restaurants are not owned by Disney, so you have the ability to call them directly for a reservation. I believe Disney only holds a limited amount of the reservations for the Downtown restaurants, so that's why you also have another shot.

In case table service doesn't work out, Wolfgang Puck Express and Earl of Sandwich are both excellent counter service locations!

We're arriving on a Sunday - but it is during Spring Break season, so I'm not sure what to expect. Thanks for the suggestion to call when we're closer to arrival. That's a good idea! I'll make sure to keep a few of the restaurant's numbers with me.

I've been eyeing Wolfgang Puck - I've heard great things about it, so we might end up there anyway.

I'm really not sure how much time to allow from airport to resort and the restort to Downtown. I fear I'm going to end up with grouchy kids. Might have to feed them a snack and grab a later than normal dinner.
