Are adjoining rooms noisier than non-adjoining?

I just noticed that our stateroom for our back to backs is adjoining with another. I dislike it (very, very much) when we get an adjoining room in a hotel....it always seems to be noisier and even though the door is closed and locked, it seems a heck of a lot less private for some reason. Any one else sail in an adjoining room where you didn't request it or know the folks on the other side? Could you hear the folks on the other side or do you think it was just about the same as a regular stateroom?

We had an adjoining room once on the cruise and found it to be a lot noisier than non-adjoining rooms. We could hear everything from next door, talking, TV, yelling, kids crying. Our next cruise without an adjoining room was very quiet as have the other 4 cruises we done. Personally I would not take an adjoining cabin again.

I agree- we had 4 teens next to us in an adjoining. I dont know what room their parents were in but it was horrible. We could have heard them no matter what kind of room it was because they were banging into the walls and screaming but most of the noise came from the adjoining door. NEVER AGAIN!

Uh oh! We have connecting rooms with MIL, FIL & GMIL. MIL & GMIL snore REALLY loud.

Definitely noiser!
We have been in one of the adjoining secret porthole rooms, and our neighbors might just as well have been in the room with us. The kids delighted in slamming each other into the door...my hubby dubbed them the "Kick Boxer Family." It's probably not as noticable if you have kids of your own who are creating their own rukus, but since we're just two generally quiet adults, the noise is really noticable.

Please, Tammy at DU....hurry and get back to me!!! Panic has set in!! I am nervous enough about being on a cruise for two weeks, now to be in a state room that will be noisey!!

I was just thinking outloud!

Thanks for your heads up! I checked on travelocity to see if the same cat 6 stateroom was available on both cruises and a couple aft deck 5 cat 6 are open on both.

Barb, your "suite" is taken up on both, but 5624 and 5626 are open....if Tammy can get me either one, are they OK?

thank you Zandy! I am happy to report our room is NOT a connecting room! phew!

And just a comment on the noise.......we are always so diligent to make sure that our kids use inside voices and not to run, jump, etc when we stay in hotels and resorts. Why can't other parents teach their kids the same respect? This is not thier home. This is someone else's home, we are a guest, and we should show respect to it and others that use it. stepping down off my soapbox now...sorry, just had to get that off my chest.

Goodness, when we stay in hotels (connecting rooms or not) it is usually the adults that are the loud obnoxious ones!

Any of the staterooms from 5622 on down are good (as I know Rae will attest, since 5622 is her suite!). You'll get more hallway traffic than 5650, but still not a lot because you are still in the aftmost section. I love it back there!
