I am planning a Florida trip in October and we would really like to work in a water park. We have been to Aquatica twice, but never to either of Disney water parks. Anyone been to both and able to provide a comparison...My family loves going to water parks, but i would really like to try a Disney one. At Aquatica, my favorites are the family rides and the lazy river. I would love to hear from people that have a perspective from both.

We have been to all three waterparks. Aquatica and Typhoon Lagoon are tied for our favourites. We were not fans of Blizzard Beach.....the "winter" theme did not appeal to us in the slightest (but we are northerners....and seeing snow in Florida is quite honestly rather repulsive).

Roa's Rapids is freaking awesome, as you know. And the park is so beautiful and bright and colourful. For those travelling with little folks, the kids area at Aquatica beats either of the Disney waterparks by a country mile. And we much prefer the food at Aquatica to Disney (both price and quality).

Typhoon Lagoon has an incredible wave pool. Its the crown jewel of the park, and sooooo much fun. We also love the tropical vibe and the lushness of the foliage. Food is just so-so and super pricey. Parking is free, which is a plus over Aquatica (where its $12).

Blizzard Beach? Well, it was okay. But that's it. We found the lines long, and the atmopshere not our style. None of us have any burning desire to return.

You can check out my trip reports (see the links in my signature) for lots of photos and a full write up of our experiences at each waterpark. Aquatica is in the December 2012 report, while Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon are both featured in the August 2013 report.

Any other questions, feel free to ask :) .

We've been to all 3, and Aquatica is by far our favourite. We wouldn't even consider a Disney water park again. We found it much larger, with far more variety, and nothing compares to Roa Rapids as well as some of their other unique watersides. We love the bits of nature they have around (like the dolphins and birds). We also really liked the regular lazy river that takes you past aquariums. Food is also a win at Aquatica as well as ample chairs and lounges.

Just read through your trip reports and all i can say is OMG...you need to work for disboards. They must take so much time, so i assume you get much enjoyment out of doing them. The information is so helpful to people planning trips, so thank-you. I think i will give TL a try. I can`t imagine we wouldn`t enjoy it. the worst that can happen is we say we do Aquatica again next time!

i am originally from Newfoundland, so i chuckled at a few comments about the shopping and restaurants...My vacations are less hectic now that we live in New Hampshire because I don`t shop while away because in other states we have to pay sales tax and who wants to pay that!;)

The family raft ride at TL sucks. There are some cool features to that park, but that ride is not one of them. The one at BB is infinitely better.

If you care to wade through my trip report (link in signature) I have reviews on both Disney water parks in there. Never been to Aquatica, but have been to numerous other water parks.

1a.Aquatica
1b.Typhoon Lagoon
2.Blizzard Beach

Aquatica has the fewest trees but more of a colorful theme with more palm trees than shade trees.Roas Rapids is the coolest attraction at any of the three parks. They're adding a new drop slide where several people are in clear tubes at the same time each looking at each other waiting to see who will drop first as the floor drops off randomly.Overall best food and shopping of the three parks.

Typhoon Lagoon is the most lush, tropical park.Has the Crush n Gusher watercoaster which is unique along with a couple decent slides but could use some more slides.Huge wave pool with waves and the shark reef snorkeling attraction give this park a good amount of unique attractions.

Blizzard Beach has several thrilling slides and a unique ski resort theme with chairlift and all.Never been a fan of the layout of the park since all the slides are up in a mountain so you continuously have to go up a few set of staircases or wait for the chairlift which only gives you access to certain slides.Has the best family raft ride by far of the three but a mediocre wave pool.Lazy river is similar in length to the one in TL but freezing water falls on you inside the caves so advantage TL.Many people from the north don't like the snowy look,I'm not from the north but all that white does give off a lot of glare in the sun.

Thanks for the kind compliments :goodvibes . I do very much enjoy doing the trip reports after our vacations. It helps alleviate the coming-home blues :) .

No sales tax in New Hampshire? I'm jealous! The 13% tax you pay on purchases when you visit NL (assuming you return to visit relatives from time to time) must be a bitter pill to swallow!

I think you will be happy with Typhoon Lagoon. It may not quite reach the level of Aquatica, but it will come close. Its lush and pretty and makes for a fun day.
