Hi,
My husband and I will be going to Aquatica in April w/ our son 10 and a friend and I am a big scaredy cat when it comes to drops . . . can't stand um!
I am wondering what rides I should avoid. When we went TL and BB at Disney some the water coaster scared me. I don't like the out of control dropping feel.
Would I be okay on the dolphin plunge (the worker at Aquatica who sold ud the tix said I'd be fine) but I have never done a body slide and woner if would be too scary?
Aslo, how about the Tassie twisters?

Thanks everyone for your time!!!

ummmm....both those attractions are essentially slides with drops....

as I waited for the kids at the bottom of DP, the most common comment was: "I didn't see anything, I was going too fast."

TT - yes you sit in a raft....you go down an enclosed drop and get dumped in the bowl....then exit the bowl into another, short, enclosed drop.

Loggerhead Lane - slow river with rafts; Roa's Rapids - fast river with jackets; and the wave pools would be the only adult attractions without drops of some kind.

warning....I have a 'drop phobic' in the house and we four thought the 'family raft' WhallaWave would be one we could do....a slow family raft....not too severe. :scared1: May be the most intense water ride I'd ever been on.....of course weight equals speed and with me and three teens we had the weight thing going on.... 3 of us loved it and the drop-phobic when on dry ground: :worship:

My drop-phobic will usually do a drop if it is enclosed...so he's OK with DP and most of the others. But he won't go near an open drop.

Whalla was just SO fast tho...we really got tossed around...but like I said, our weight was a factor.

:) Thanks for the info.

It sounds like I may want to rethink WW which I thought would be okay, I did the one at BB but it was open and not too scary although very fact w/ four adults in it.

I am still not sure about DP since it is so fast, I am still not sure how instense the drop is?

I know Taumata Racer and HooHooRun are definately out. I can't believe the latter is a family ride.

How large is the drop on TS? You said it was enclosed so maybe not as bad.

Are there some more mild slides at Whanua Way?

LL and Koa's rapids sound like much fun along w/ wave pools!

Thanks for the help!

My big fear is the enclosed slides. I DONT do well with those.:scared1: Are there at least some open ones?

far from the steepest I've seen.....

HooHoo was nuthin compared to WalHalla ... and note those two attractions feed off one set of stairs; the split doesn't happen til near the top. There were 10 groups waiting for W for every one wanting H. You could walk righ up to H if you could negotiate all the others waiting for W

not so bad....cuz it only drops you about 1/3 the way and then you aree in the bowl.....btw unlike other "bowl" attractions I've been on...you ride an inner tube on this one....and it doesn't leave you for a vertical drop out the bottom....but feeds you to another short slide segment

Are there some more mild slides at Whanua Way?

yes, those are more 'mild' as you ride an inner tube....double or single

LL and Koa's rapids sound like much fun along w/ wave pools!

HooHoo was nuthin compared to WalHalla . . .

Is WalHalla really that intense? Is it totally dark the whole time? Are the drops worse than HooHoo?

Geesh, sounds like there is very little I will ride.

Ah, for the days when slides were kind and gentle and you just went round and round, twisting and turnning but not dropping.

Have this silly and complete fear of falling out. I know the odds of that are about the same as winning the lottery but still . . .

As best I recall, every slide was at least partially enclosed

except HooRoo

OH SNAP:eek: Well this calls for a change of plans then. We have never been to Typhoon Lagoon. Is their more open slides there?

OK I have officially chickened out!:upsidedow Typhoon Lagoon it is. We will go to Aquatica with the kids in December if the weather is ok;)

Really, I don't even remember any significant drops, we just got very fast right away....we were going so fast that the raft went SO FAR up the sides that I really thought we were gonna dump several times. We didn't ..... but the raft was mightly vertical!

The renditions on the web page map are accurate so far as open/closed. This one starts open, then gets closed in for the last half.

HooHoo had the dips....but since it is straight we never climbed the sides!

I could spend the entire day in the fast river myself....very relaxing to just hang in the vest and be pushed around. Kind of a jacuzzi on steroids. When we lived near Water Country, that's what mom & I'd do while the kids did all the other stuff.

BTW....about 'dips'

some parks have slides that seem to approach a 90 degree straight down drop. No slide at AQ comes close to that angle. Nothing like the big drop at Blizzard Beach......

no weggie specials !
