aquatica questions

I am trying to gauge how much time i need to budget for a trp to aquatica. we have the super elmo pass so parking and entry are free. we have a few days where we will have a few hours free and thought that might be a fun way to spend them.

from the time you pull in the parking lot, how long in general before you are in a pool? long walk? pain to get in?

I am good going for 2 hours if it take 10 minutes to do all that but if its like 45 minutes we might as well stay at the hotel and swim

I would say budget about 15 minutes to get into the park. When we went it was at 1pm so the parking lot was full but we found a spot and got into the park pretty quickly. I don't know what time of day you went but we basically just did the wave pool and the kiddie area and stayed away from the slides because of how busy it was while we were there for just a few hours.

I am really looking forward to this trip since we are going to be able to get there when they open and really enjoy the park for at least a half day if not more.

I can't see why it being a pain to get in would have you prefer to stay at the hotel pool.Aquatica is awesome,when I go I spend most or all day there.The Roa's Rapids fast lazy river is one of the coolest things ever and that along with all the other slides and wave pools make this park must do fun.And to answer your question it shouldn't be more than 10 minutes to get inside the park since you already have a pass.

I don't know why it would take you an hour to "get through all the crap". You park, you walk up to the entrance where there might be a small line for bag check and to go through the turnstiles, but then you're there. If you feel the need for a locker, there might be a small line for lockers, and if you don't come dressed for the waterpark, it might take a few minutes to change.

But to park and walk in, certainly won't take anywhere close to an hour.

The biggest wait I've had was getting a locker - maybe an extra ten minutes. As I recall, Aquatica doesn't have a discount on the lockers for pass holders, but you may get a partial rebate of a couple of bucks when you turn your key back in - which we use for an ice cream on the way to the car.
I enjoy Roa's Rapids enough to do a drop-in visit just for that. We've started bringing swimmer's towels (Chamois/ShamWow type) and gallon freezer zip lock bags so that we can travel light and carry our essentials (keys and passes) with us while we float the loop. We either carry our flipflops with or tuck them under a lounge chair.
So I don't have the bother of getting a locker and changing at the park, I just nylon shorts over my suit. They preserve a bit of dignity going to and from the car and go into the water. I just shuck them off before I get into the car to leave, and pull on a dry pair of shorts. To keep the seats dry and be more comfortable, I put a poncho and dry towel on the car seats.
