Aquatica Cabanas Question

We are a family of 4, traveling with another family of 4. We would like to get a cabana, and I see for the standard cabanas, it is for 4 people, and you can add up to 3 additional guests for an extra fee. I would like to do this, but that would leave 1 person out. I'm not even sure that we'd all be in the cabana very often or at the same time. Is it possible for the 8th person to visit the cabana as well, or no?

The entrance to the cabana area is staffed by an AQ team member. Everyone who is allowed access to the cabana area must be wearing a wrist band that is given out when you visit Guest Services in the morning to get your cabana assignment. They are the paper ones with the sticky ends that you can't take on and off (so no sharing). If you can only add 3 additional people to a rental, then you would only be given a max number of 7 wristbands for your party. So whoever is wearing the wrist band is out of luck.

You could always get two cabanas, then there's no issue. They are a great splurge, and well worth it IMHO.

Thanks for the info, Gina! Are there some cabanas that are close together if we got 2 cabanas or would be somewhat split up into 2 groups?

The cabanas are set up so that you could get 2 pretty close together, they are all along a walkway, just make sure if you do book 2 that they are in the same section and close. I don't know the ages but if any are under 2 they don't count, unlike discovery cove. Last year we had one but my brother visited and they did allow all of us in but 1 was 2 so she didn't have to have the wristband.

We went last May and there was hardly anyone there, the only thing I would change was the location. Ours backed up to fence and so we heard the trucks coming and going from the road, it made a great place for the baby to nap but I did notice the additional sound :) Next time I would request one in a different spot, but even if not I thought it was worth having a place to go and relax. Since we had it we ended up staying from opening to close that day.

Thanks for your input! It sounds like I'll need to reserve 2 cabanas. We went to Aquatica 3 years ago and only stayed 2-3 hours because it was so crowded and we couldn't find chairs to sit in. I'm hoping that if we had a cabana, we could spend the whole day there. We'll be there next Thursday!:):)

We were in the Uluwatu Cabana section, and the cabanas lined each side of the pathway. You can kind of see it here, in this photo:

Some of the cabanas were quite close to each other, which would be perfect in your situation. The ones on the side shown in the pic were "standard" cabanas, while those across the walkway lined the wave pool so were considered "pool view" (and were a higher cost).

If I were you, when I reserved the additional cabana, I would do it by phone and have the customer service rep note on the reservation that you would like both cabanas to be next to each other. Then mention it again when you check in for your cabanas on the day you visit. The SW parks are very accomodating, so I am betting you will have no problem getting them side by side.

I would definitely have them note on the original reservation that you are renting two cabanas to accomodate a large number of guests visiting together, as I think there is a second cabana section located in a completely different area of the park, so that definitely would be inconvenient if one group of 4 had a cabana in one section while the other family was in another.
