We will be visiting Coral Reef for the first time in May. I think DH and DS(4) will really enjoy the atmosphere. We do have reservations but can I request a seat directly next to the aquarium.

It never hurts to ask, but from my experience they won't guarantee anything...

But, know that there's a good view of the aquarium from most tables, no matter where you sit....

You can request anything you want but it will not guarantee you a seat next to the aquarium. My friend just returned and she also requested a seat next to the aquarium and she was on the other side of the restaurant..needless to say she was upset. The food was good and she did like it but she said there are very few tables right next to the aquarium..have fun! ;)

I had possibly the worst seat in the house, and even that was perfectly fine.

I thought the tilapia on the lunch menu was pretty good, too.

:thumbsup2

We had the 2nd row level and my kids could even still see the aquarium. Just a note that all tables face the aquarium. It is beautiful in there and we loved it.

DH and I were lucky enough to have a table right next to the aquarium. The view of the fish was amazing. We found that because we were right next to the aquarium, that there were quite a few young kids wondering around to get a closer look at the fish. We were not bothered by all the kids wondering around, but I was worried when we were getting out of seats to leave that we might bump into the kids around us.

We were there last Monday and we had an aquarium side seat. When we were being seated there were kids in our seats taking pictures..lol The server had to ask their parents to take them back to their seats so we could be seated. We also had the diver scheduled for our daughters so that might be why we had such a great seat..I dunno!! We also had the personalized menus and they did a WONDERFUL job with it all!!! Everything went off without a hitch!!! My kids were convinced it all was a message and gift from Nemo...hahaha

How do you get these and what is the cost? We have an ADR for the Coral Reef for our upcoming stay as a Grand Gathering. We will have many kids with us and this would be great!

We sat in the middle tier and had a great view of the full aquarium. If you sit right next to the aquarium your view is limited to your section/area only. Also you have to be the judge as to whether or not your 4yo will be squeamish or fine sitting that close. The tank has some sharks/large fish and really big turtles. Also they give you an activity sheet that let's you mark off all the fish/tank life you see. You'll probably see more further away. Personally, I don't see ever making the tank side table request. If I'm with someone who really is gung ho about it I won't fight it, but it really wasn't necessary and I loved the view we had.

I prefer not to sit on the first level. You get a panaramic view of more of the tank further up.

When we went here for lunch, we had a seat right next to the Aquarium. And it was nice. But at the same time I have to agree with other posts that it does kind of limit your view, sitting that close up. When we go in September, we won't be requesting a seat right next to the Aquarium this time. popcorn::

Does anyone have pictures of this restaurant? It sounds just lovely. I may decide on an ADR here!

Thanks for all the responses. I did not even realize there was a second floor. It sounds like we will be ok no matter where we sit.

We like the 2nd tier best too. We did not care for the top tier, though, because our little ones could not see very much.

we were not RIGHT next to the aquarium, but at a two person table right next to teh table right bythe aquarium, if that amkes sense! lol. it was nice, but kids kept coming up to our table screaming "LOOK AT THE FISH!" and taking pitcures while we were tryign to eat. I think i would rather be up a level next time for a better view and less kids. (no offense to kids, i love kids, but not when i am trying to eat a nice meal with my hubby ya know?)

I'd love to know about the personalized menus and sign also. We are celebrating our 25th anniversary at the Coral Reef in May.

People have such a HUGE sense of entitlement and as a result are incredibly rude.
Every time I have eaten at the Coral Reef, I have seen people be horrible to the greeters/bookers. Without fail, it is because of a slight change in their schedule (i.e. the reservations are running a couple minutes late-by a couple I mean never more than 15 minutes!). So people berate the staff, :scared1: then DEMAND to be placed by the glass while looking down their nose to the staff. The best are the ones who come in with no reservations and act this way?!?!

First thing I do, is walk up with a smile. I thank them for doing a great job. I give them my name and my reservation number. As they look it up, I let them know I am in no hurry whatsoever. I then ask very nicely, if there is any way my family could sit closer…we would gladly wait or let someone else go before us…we are just enjoying everything and even waiting provides magical moments.

Sound stupid?

I am convinced that this approach is the reason we have sat at the glass and have waited minimally EVERY TIME. Yes, I am that blankety-blank that came in after you did but got to eat before you did. :rotfl:

That is great! It's true that when you are nice to others, they will be nice to you. We have ADR's for Coral Reef and really hope that we get to eat next to a window. If we don't get to, it's not the end of the world. Just being at WDW is enough for me! ;)

This is SO true. A little politeness goes a long way.
