Aquaduck & swim shoes vs flip-flops

I've read stories about how hot, hot, hot the stairs leading up to the Aquaduck can get. I think I have swim shoes but I kind of remember someone wrote that they were able to wear their flip-flops up the stairs and then just sat on them in the raft during the ride. Is that correct? Do the rafts have bottoms or are they just inflated donut-type tubes?

Yes, the stairs leading up the the aquaduck can get hot but after they get wet from repeat riders it's okay. The three times I've road I was told no shoes whatsoever which included flip-flops. If I recall correctly the rafts have bottoms. If you are able to get away with wearing flip-flops I hope you can.

We just returned from the Fantasy sad2:I want to go back, but don't get me started.) Anyway, without thinking, I wore my flip-flops up the stairs (as they WERE scorching hot.) I was asked to remove them right before I got in the raft. I just sat on them. (I even did it again. My feet didn't get hot.)

I think it all depends on the Aquaduck CM. When we were on the Dream in June, my DD and I wore our water shoes and the CMs at the bottom of the stairs and at the raft didn't say anything to us about them. After riding, we immediately got back in line, but the CM at the stairs was a different person; they had changed shifts, I guess. Well, this CM would not let us get in line with our water shoes, so we left them at the entrance in the little cubbies. --- I thought that there should have been more consistency in the handling of this.
