This feels like a dumb question but I keep reading that one of the best times to ride the AquaDuck is right when you board the ship. But then aren’t you wet for going to Cabanas for lunch? What do people do in this case?

Towels?

But seriously, I think most people are hitting a very busy and crowded Cabanas. You could eat first and then hit the AquaDuck.

Nobody says you can't eat a late breakfast and then eat a later Cabanas for lunch, or skip lunch altogether depending on when your dinner seating starts.

Honestly, if you go hungry on a cruise, it's probably your own fault. There's food available at any time. If the AquaDuck is your main goal on the first day, hit it. It will be there later too. My kids have never left the boat hungry, or in need of additional AquaDuck rides. They've gotten their fill of both on every trip.

My daughter always wears her bathing suit and hits the pool as soon as we board. It's the only time during the week it isn't crowded! That is a perfect time for pool and Aquaduck. It's hot enough to dry off quickly - and Cabanas is open for a few hours so you'll have plenty of time to eat. You're fine wearing a coverup over your suit in Cabanas...you'll see people doing it all week.

I'd seen all the info that the pools were pretty dead and the AquaDuck had a short line. We had our swimsuits in our backpack and when we got there it was packed. The time we found the AquaDuck with no line was after the pirate party. DD was dying to swim so we skipped the pirate party and showed up at the end in swimsuits expecting the pools to open once the deck was cleared...wrong. They never re-opened the pools that night but the AquaDuck was open with zero line. My daughter and husband rode it and loved it but he said the water was FREEZING and he refused to ride it again despite my daughter's begging.

Yeah, towels. Another bonus for AquaDuck on embarkation day is that there is usually less wind while docked at the port (as opposed to the boat sailing full-speed to another port.) So, if you're already wet from riding it, you won't freeze while you wait in line to ride again.

You can dry off with a pool deck towel, then change back into your clothes in the bathroom. Then go have lunch.

It only works if you embark early and do the AquaDuck before you eat.

Also, PLEASE ensure that you have changed into something dry for Muster Drill - especially if your Station is inside. Nothing worse than being dressed for dinner and a show and sitting in a padded seat where a wet butt had been for Muster.

We get there early for low boarding group number and head straight to Cabanas, get our food and take it outside to the pool deck and eat there on the pool deck, and a server typically brings us a drink of the day. We have a bag packed, so we immediately change to swim clothes, and by that time, the aquaduck is usually open and no line, so we get on it a few times before most realize it's open. This may not be to everyone's liking, but we love doing it this way as we get a great lunch and great seats, and a great time to enjoy most the pool side amenities to almost ourselves.
