For those of you have rented the Aqua Trikes on CC (the big yellow tricycle things)....

1) I read that they are $15 to rent. How long is that for? The day...an hour?

2) How many people can ride on one? And for what ages. My boys are 11 and 12.

3) Is it really hard once you get out in the water a bit? What happens if we get out there and nobody can peddle back? :rotfl:

4) Is there a weight limit?

I don't remember exactly how much they were to rent but $15 sounds right and I think that was for an hour.

They seat two people.

I don't think you'd have any problem peddling back but you can always wave your arms and they'll send someone out on a jetski.

I can't answer your question abou the weight limit but the wheels are huge, I think someone would have to be really heavy to not be able to use one.

For those of us who are afraid of not being able to pedal back they have a lounge chair on pontoons that has a little motor, can't remember for the life of me what it's called. It's very slow but fun. It will hold two people and I believe it was $15 for 1/2 hour.

sandym, a lounge chair with a motor sounds like a good idea to me -- enjoying the beautiful beach views and the water without having to exert myself. :thumbsup2

There was no exrcise involved, just my speed. It was very relaxing.

I'm sure boys would love it, but my DH and I joked that it was actually more work than enjoyment. Maybe that's just telling us that we need to get in better shape. Although that was before kids and I was hitting the gym 5 days a week, including spinning class twice a week, so not really sure what my problem was. In a word, YES, it is a little tough. I wouldn't do it again. Now the banana boat...that's another story. Bring it on!!!!

This sounds ideal! :cloud9:

Just have to hope that DD6 doesn't want to go out on one of those water bike things...:headache: If she does, DH can take her - I know for sure that I'd need to be "rescued" and DH would never let me live that down! :scared:

Those trikes were very fun but, but yes a LOT of work! I did it with my 8 year old DS and he could barely peddle and wanted to get as close to the ship as possible - then we had to peddle back! I said this is supposed to be vacation not working out!!! Next time I'm dying to try the motorized lounge chair - more my vacation speed.

Ok, I guess I had forgot they were a lot of work to pedal...maybe that's because DD14 did most of the pedaling!!

We did the motorized lounge thing in the afternoon and the whole time we were having the worst time trying to steer it (it would only turn in one direction which becomes a problem eventually!!). When we were way out the thing seemed to completely die on us so we had to start waving our hands for help. One of the lifeguards came out on a jetski and towed us back in. Apparently late in the day the batteries start wearing out on them. They offered to give us another one but it was late in the day so we didn't bother to go out again.

Here's a picture of us getting "rescued". :teeth:
