Hello All,

For those who have gone to WDW in the hot summer months, would you recommend aqua shoes for the water parks? I was just wondering if...

1. there's a lot of hot sidewalk where your tootsies get burned while standing in line or walking from slide to slide

2. are guests allowed to wear the water shoes on the rides (slides etc.)

3. do most people just wear slippers (flip flops) and then wear them on the slides (or hold them in their hands)

Thanks for your advice! :sunny:

I would definitely recommend water shoes for the water parks! The cement does get hot in some places!! We went to Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon last summer and wore our water shoes on all the slides. I also think the water shoes help in the wave pool too! The bottom is kind of rough.

Enjoy your stay!!!

I would highly recommend aqua shoes not only for protection from the hot tar but athletes foot (iccky).

From what I can recall, the only slides they require you to take them off before riding are the very large ones at both parks.

Have fun! :sunny:

Definately need some sort of foot protection. Those sidewalks get HOT! We try to stay away from flip flops since they don't stay on in the wave pool and my kids walk out of them easily.

Thanks, we're going to pick up water shoes.

Ummmm, do the grownups wear them too? (I know grownups would probably get toasted tootsies too, but I can't imagine my DH wearing them). :thumbsup2

For me it wasn't so much the hot sidewalks, it was the sand that gets tracked on the cement walkways...it just tore my wet feet up. You do well if your whole family has the water shoes.

Yes, definintely wear water shoes. Not only for the hot surfaces but the bottom of the lazy rivers and the wave pools are rough, to reduce slipping. After a full day your toes will be torn up. The last two times I've worn my sandal style Crocs (actually Payless Airwalks) and they worked great. An added benefit is that the float too.

Have fun! :sunny: :goodvibes
