AP's to get 20 FP+ per quarter

I am DVC and have AP.
If it turns out that i will get 20 FP per 3 months, and that I may use UP TO 4 per day (giving me a maximum of 20 days use per quarter at 1 per day or a minimum of 5 days use at 4 per day) I think the strategy I would use would be:
Reserve a FP for TSM at 3 pm and RnRC at 4 pm.
Start the day at Epcot. Rope drop walk on for Soaring and Test Track. Do whatever and then have Epcot lunch and boat over to DHS.
Sounds like a decent day - and makes better use of my hopper ability....

I'll admit, I havn't been a cheerleader for the new FP+ system. In fact I've been quite against it. However, I'll also admit that we still don't know exactly how it will work. All the tests thus far have allowed people to reserve 4 experiances (3 for the recent DHS test). However it is possible that that number is simply for testing purposes and when FP+ goes live the number of experiances will be increced (possibly double or more). However, if that is the case, one would think they would have a limited test of the full-up system, where the testing guest would not be able to use the regular FPs (as per the T&C) prior to this thing going live.

Another possibilty would be that they give different resort levels a different number of experiancs. While this is a possibly, I hope that is not the case. At this point every single guest (even those staying off-site) once they are in the park has the exact same opportunities. The experiance at the resorts or getting to the parks may be different, but once in the park it is the same. Tiering the FP+ experiances based on where you stay, would constitute a substantial shift in that part of the companies (parks) philosophy.

Time will tell.

Everything we've seen with this new wave of releases says 3-per-day for everyone. From Deluxe to Day Guest.

I think that a tiered system is coming either by directly paying for more Fast Passes or for FP distribution determined by level of resort accommodations. They've already done it with the dining plan. Disney knows there are a certain number of guests who will pay more for convenience.

Hopefully they will consider doing it on a dollar amount spent versus just a pure value-mod-deluxe designation.

I'm spending a week in late May, and my cost for tickets + a Cars suite at AOA is just $100 less than the same package at Wilderness Lodge for example. I'd hate to have say 1/2 the FP+ opportunities those guests do just based on the geography of where I'm staying vs. the amount I've spent.

3 is a pretty paltry number, especially considering that 1 or 2 of them will be for attractions we never use FP for and that in a typial day we (our family) typically uses 5-7 FPs.

I would be unhappy if they did tier it based on where you stay. In order for us to stay at say the Animal Kingdom Lodge during Value season it would cost our family $750 per night (we require two rooms). I make decent money, but there is no way I can afford to spend $5000+ for a week there, when I can rent a condo offsite that is nicer for less than $1000 for the week.

3 per day for everyone is the current line - no difference between resorts or day guests.

You would hope. They do it though with free dining- a person staying at a value resort gets the quick service option but not the regular dining plan. That's only included with a moderate or deluxe reservation.

I hope they allow you to "buy" more, and or not limit what you can use them on.

Also I read an article on allearsnet just a few minutes ago, that suggest that for guests that don't know where to start they have "Fast Picks" which is a set of 3 FP+ picks to serve as the starting point. This may mean that it is only three and you can change those three after starting, or it could suggest that you will actually have more than 3.

If that means 3 in advance, in addition to being able to add more when you are in the park, then I'm probably fine with it.

3 total per day, when all 3 most likely can't be used on 3 top-tier attractions, is few enough to make us rethink our vacation plans.

Just out of curosity where are you getting your info from. Other than the allearsnet article I referenced (which is a bit ambiguous) and the recent DHS test, I haven't seen 3 selections listed anywhere.

Ah I must have missed that one over this weekend. I would like to read that article, if someone could repost the link, or let me know what the post # it is in is, I would appreciate it.

Thanks,

Thanks. Assuming it is accurate (and if Disney is actually releasing info to a newspaper, then it should be), then it definatlly appears that the number of pre-selections will be 3. What wasn't clear is if 1) people staying off-site would be able to participate in that 3 and 2) if you will be able to make more selections once in the park.

The article does mention that under the current system "But gridlock quickly sets in and most people wait. And wait.". If they are truly trying to keep people out of lines then the total number of experiance reservations will have to be a lot more than 3.

Oh, I finally think I understand where they are trying to go. Eventually they would have FP+ for every single attraction and thus FP+ scheduleable (once you reach the park). The FP+ posts at The Hall of Presidents and the Riverboat seem to support this idea. The standby line would practiaclly go away and theoritically people would never need to stand in line. I think I'm starting to get less against this idea, especially if offsite guests get to participate in the 3 advanced reservations.

But are they FP+ return readers at Hall of Presidents et al or simply RFID readers? They may simply be "virtual" turnstyles, used to track who is going where for data collecting, target marketing and the like.
