DH and I were planning to go next September. I told him about the thread about AP deals in September, wondering out loud if it made sense to get him an AP to get the hotel deal, and he said we should look into it. Can anyone help me figure out if this makes sense?

We are planning to go mid-to-late September, possibly early October, and will have both kids with us (then ages 7 and 3.) Last time we stayed 7 nights and had 8-day park hoppers, and are looking to do something similar. We stayed at the DLH, and would prefer to stay there again.

QUESTION 1: So does this scenario make sense to get DH an AP to save $ on the DLH hotel? Or is the 4th night free deal better (or the same savings)? We would probably get the Premium AP so we don't have to worry about blackout dates (weekend days.)

QUESTION 2: So in talking about APs, DH wondered if we could figure out a way to use our AMEX points (hotel? airfare?) to save even more money, and possibly get us all APs to take TWO DL trips on the APs! We've never used AMEX points before, so not sure how to go about that...?

Any help from AP holders or AMEX points users would be very much appreciated! :)

Re Question #2: Check your Membership Rewards program but I don't think AMEX has anything for DL anymore -- they used to have a good partnership but that changed some time ago -- at least that is the way it was last time I checked (I have lots of points, too).

If you are Costco member you might check their site as they had some deals. Don't know if it better that DL or maybe AAA.

I did read through the list of hotels, and you're right, DLH was not one of them. Supposedly we can use the points toward airfare, but I've never done that so don't know the ins and outs of it. Don't know if trying to do that will severely complicate the trip planning or not. Thanks for the info.

You can use your membership rewards for airfare and it is awesome. It is a pretty much dollar for dollar trade and there are many airlines to choose from. I have also found that they offer the cheapest rates that are out there. I just got on American Express Travel and you can use your membership rewards points for all of the Disney Hotels. Go into the AMEX travel section and select Anaheim. It will ask you for the age of your children and you will also see an area that says all hotels that name includes: at that point you put in Disney and it will pull up all three. As you move through the booking process you will be asked if you want to use your membership rewards. I love AMEX and Membership Rewards!

Holy cow, DH is going to be thrilled! We better get this points thing figured out ASAP! Thank you. :thumbsup2
