My DD and I have been to WDW the past 2 summers (last week of August thru Labor Day) and it looks like we might be back this upcoming April instead of summer for 2008. Does anyone know of any major differences (weather, specials, promos, etc.) that could help me plan our trip? My DD will be at a cheerleading :cheer2: competition in Daytona Beach on April 12, 2008, so I thought we would just do our annual WDW vacation then, since we would already be down there (from Buffalo, NY). I realize that the crowds will probably be larger than we are used to, especially since it will be spring break week (April 11-April19). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Too early to know about promos for next year yet, but April would be awesome! August is soooo hot and humid and crowded. April would not be nearly as crowded due to kids still being in school. If cost wasn't a huge issue, I would definitely prefer April.

..the airfare in april will kill ya.....

We go both times. The weather in April is usually great, but there are crowds due to a lot of people having spring break (we live in MA).

Yep, I did already check on airfare and is a little pricey compared to our regular August trip. Not too bad on AirTran, cuz we can fly direct non-stop. I was concerned about the crowd being exceptionally heavier in April because it will be spring break week. I have always chosen August before becuz the crowds were lighter and great rates....but yes...hhhoooootttttttttttt!!!!!!

Just wondering if maybe we shouldnt stick with August, but would be nice to enjoy WDW without all the heat & humidity. However, I love my tan that time of year!!!! :cool1:

Just wondering if anything special that time of year! We had a great time at The Pirate pirate: & Princess princess: Party in August.

The flower and garden festival will be going on in Epcot. We loved it. talk about some great photo opportunities!!!!!
The weather is wonderful.
I would MUCH rather have some heavier crowds than HOT weather.
But still nice enough to go swimming and get that tan!!!!
Get a head start on everyone else up here not having tans at that time!!!!

I am still really tempted to go this Spring....are the crowds really that heavier, as opposed to end of summer? The airfare prices are definitely pricier.

Not all states/school districts have the same Spring Break, they seem to be distributed throughout March and April, so it may not be as busy as you think. The weather will definitely be nicer!

There is a thread here somewhere titled "when is your Spring Break" to give you an idea!

We've gone the 1st week in April a couple of times- it's our anniversary- and depending on when easter falls seems to dictate how busy it is. It was crazy busy in 2007, but since I was pregnant and wasn't doing too many rides, it wasn't a big deal. We were talking to folks from the Midwest, and it seemed to be a common spring break time then as well. Here in Massachusetts, April vacation is usually the 3rd week in April...we've only been in early August and the crowds weren't bad at all, and it was just as hot and humid as when we've been in April and May (and September), so I think that also varies from year to year, depending on the weather.
