**April 6, 2013** - Fantasy Eastern Caribbean to San Juan!

Hello everyone! :wave2: I have been away from the boards for a bit... have been really busy with the kids for summer vacation!

:hourglass

Are you excited yet?:banana::banana:

:dance3::dance3::dance3:
:thumbsup2:cool1:

Hi there! I noticed that the e is missing from Jasmine's name on the FE list. Thank you for taking care of the list!!!
Fixed! :)
Anyone else doing any preliminary planning yet? Or am I the only crazy one?
Just been waiting for our airline to open up flights for April.. they are currently at January!

The last time I flew into the Orlando airport, I recall security being a pain in the behind with really long lines. Of course, that was in 2006 so it could have changed since then. I always like to get myself to the airport early so that I'm not stressing out.
We were there in 2008, security wasn't too bad, the line kept moving (slowly) :crazy2:

This is our first cruise, first time I've ever heard of a fish extender, first time on disboards and first time I've ever posted ANYTHING! I would like to get on this FE list for April 6 Fantasy, though. Are you splitting the list to 15 cabins? I'm a little afraid to get in over my head!

I am not sure what you mean about splitting the list to 15 cabins?

We will let the list go until about a month before the cruise. You will be assigned a day to pass out your gifts to the cabins on the list. They don't have to be expensive.

Here is a quote from someone who explains it pretty good!

For those who are new to the FE, here is some info:

The Fish Extender is a pocket thing you hang from the fish shaped hook outside your cabin room. If you join the FE exchange group, you hang up a Fish Extender outside your cabin, and exchange little gifts with other who are in the group, by putting something in their extender.
Here is a thread with some basic info about it:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1219607

and here is another thread with homemade gift ideas:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1980639&highlight=fe+homemade+gifts

It's really fun, not just for kids, and you can either give one gift to each cabin, or a gift to each person in the cabin, or gifts a few times throughout the cruise, or just once. No real set rules, just exchange and have fun! And you can be crafty or not. The homemade gifts are really fun, but if you're not crafty, then something you purchase and gift is just as great!!!

OK I want to get on the FE list. The Hoyle Family. Wally Dad, Wendy Mom, Jonathan 17, Ryan 12, and Breanna 9. Can't wait!!

Great to know there is another 'older' teenager! If we continue with this trip, my DS17 (Spencer) and DD14 (Becca) will be with us. They have been on 3 other Disney cruises, but when they were much younger. The appeal of the Fantasy is winning us back. . . .

I too have a correction for the roll call list. Mjruane are me Mary Jo, DH Jack, DS (not daughter) Jack, 13 and DS Brett, 10.

Thanks for putting it together. The cruise will be here in no time!

Updated!

And sorry again for the mistypes. I've noticed myself jotting down DD instead of DS constantly, so I may need to double-check again to make sure everyone is correct.

I have a slight dilemma and vent, but nothing that is going to stop us from going on the cruise (especially since our deposit is non-refundable).

My DD9 (10 in one week...eek!) is in a ballet company. This is her 3rd year in company and every year, they do a spring show that is a couple weeks after spring break. Well, we just received the schedule for this year and they've booked the spring show for the weekend after spring break and made the Saturday before that a mandatory rehearsal! Sorry, but she will not be there. I guess if it's really mandatory, she'll miss the spring show. Ugh!

I've been really supportive of this whole dance thing, but this time, I'm annoyed. I've given up the idea of going to WDW to see the holiday decorations because of dance already, so this just tops it. They also do a holiday show every year mid-December and the rehearsals for the last 4 weeks are mandatory.

Oh, and I can't discuss it with her yet because she doesn't know we are going on a Disney cruise. She knows we have a cruise booked that week, but she thinks it's on Princess since that is who we usually cruise with.

I will update the FE list when I get home from our mini vacation at SeaWorld in San Diego! Please send me your cabin # when you receive it. Thanks.

Maybe if you let them know about your vacation, they will make an exception??

I'm definitely going to try. :thumbsup2

I completely understand needing the rehearsal time, but they also need to pay attention to school holidays for the company. The dance school itself follows the school schedule, so the company should as well.

Thanks for letting me vent!! We'll figure it out eventually, I hope.

Good luck with that!!! I am very worried about what life's activities will bring once my kids get older and are in school and activities. I think I take for granted that we can go whenever we want right now. We are already pulling her from school for one week for this cruise, but she is in pre-kindergarten, so I am not too worried. But once she is in kindergarten, I will be less inclined to pull her out from school then...

Good thoughts being sent your way!

Also, did you see that Disney posted excursions for San Juan finally? Nothing really stood out to us, so I think we might book a room at a hotel and just relax for the day. We did that on our last cruise in Mexico and it worked out great.

DD will be in 5th grade this year, so the days of pulling her out for a week are pretty much gone. Luckily, she is a good student, so we try to fit in long weekends every once in a while.

I think we are planning to just wander around in San Juan. DH and I have both been there and we love the old town.

We have the same problem! The Nutcracker is always in Dec, of course, and usually the Company here performs a Fairy Tale in the Spring. The date has not been announced yet, but she already knows she may not perform. She's fine with that; there's alwas next time. We live on the GA, SC line. Maybe we're neighbors. My daughter will be excited to meet another ballerina.

Nice! We are in Marietta, but close enough! :)

We do Polar Express in the winter and then usually the spring show has been some movie-type tale. Last year, it was Wizard of Oz. I'm not sure what show they are doing this year. Since she's one of the younger kids, I'm pretty sure it should be okay for her to miss the rehearsal. She's not going to have a solo part yet.

Is your daughter planning on going to the kids' club? My daughter would love to meet another ballerina that she can have fun with!

You can remove us from the FE list. We had to switch cruises to fit in with our spring break schedule. Enjoy the cruise!
