I hope all effected by earthquake is ok.....and i hope Irene will not cause too much trouble to anyone. Please stay safe.

Getting ready to head to Walmart, want to beat the mad rush. We might experience our first hurricane.:scared1: Hoping it's not a direct hit, either way looks like we will be impacted. Hope all those on the East coast affected will be o.k.

Hope all is well with you, stay safe.

On one of our cruises a couple of years ago, the captain threaded his way among 3 separate hurricanes/tropical storms. We did fine. (Gotta love the hurricane season rates!)

Tina, what part of NY are you from? We moved from Queens to Virginia.

I was born in Long Island, still have alot of relatives in LI and NYC. My father was born in Brooklyn. I lived in upstate NY for 20 years. 30 min. from Rochester. I miss the Fall !!! I am used to those snow storms.:rotfl2:

Oh if I felt that earthquake I think it would have sent me over the edge. lol Glad your o.k.

:thumbsup2 I think we have alot of people on this cruise that are from VA. Hope all is o.k.

Thanks, We are prepared. Looks like we might not get the direct hit. We are keeping an " eye " on it.

Wow - 5.3 earthquake in Colorado yesterday, 5.9 in Virginia today and the east holding their breath waiting to see if hurrican Irene decides to visit. Saying a prayer for all of you.

Val

I agree, we have done both non-DCL and DCL. On our WBTA in one port there were a couple things we wanted to do. So, we booked the non-DCL excursion in the morning and the DCL in the afternoon. That way if we were delayed the ship would be waiting. Sure enough we were delayed a little and were one of the last getting back on before the gangway was pulled.

Jon

Looks like you now know why I will never do a non DCL tour.

Waaahooo! We just experienced a 5.9 earthquake here. It really made me feel a lot of sympathy for those folks who live in CA and NZ! I can't believe how scared I was! They're not exactly a common occurrence in VA.

5.9. I had no clue how big it was. I have a really good friend on the east coast (who will be on this cruise with her boyfriend) who sentme a text that she just went through her first quake. I was thinking like a 4 or something, no big deal to us here in CA, but a 5.9 that is a good one. That can be a little scary.

Stay safe. I hope that it turns out to see and blows itself out somewhere where it won't cause damage

Yes, I remember this only too well. We spent our first ever cruise in company of Hanna, Ike and Josephine.

I just heard this one the news here in the UK. I hope everybody is OK.

We are fine so far, kind of anticipating possible aftershocks. DGD3 is too scared to take a nap. We're trying to reassure her as best as we can, but how can you know what will happen?

Thanks! So far, so good.

I was born in Queens, DH in Brooklyn. We lived in Putnam for several years. We still have the 4 seasons here in VA with not too much snow usually, but there certainly have been exceptions!

However, today we had an earthquake and we're due for a hurricane in a few days. Too much weather excitement for me!

I understand how scary it is, even though I have experienced EQs all my life, for years after our last big one whenever a truck going by the house caused vibrations my stomach would drop. EQ's are a way of life, I have nothing on the wall over my bed, i.e. pictures, my tv is strapped to the cabinet, my china cabinet is bolted to the wall and in fact my whole house is bolted to the foundation. That is living in EQ country.

Holy CatFish, what a feeling.....it was like something you feel, but nothing you can do, out of you control....but no damage/all is good.....:surfweb:
Breaking news: Washington D. C. has just revealed what every body thought was an Earthquake was really the economy hitting rock bottom...:lmao:
sorry had to make light of this situation....

Robin & Angel "D" :thumbsup2

We got rocked a bit all the way down here in downtown Raleigh by that earthquake! It was scary, but no damage for us. And us to the people hoping Irene stays out to sea. The last hurricane to make it as far inland as Raleigh was Isabelle in 2003 and we lost a good part of our roof to that one. So, we have bad feelings about I hurricanes!

It has been a crazy summer Mother Nature has dealt. From the tornadoes and severe storms in the midwest, to the quakes and hurricanes. It has been nuts!.. Hope all are well and stay safe!..

Here in CA I make fun of east coast quakes all the time. I always here how a 3.5 quake rattled people in VA or something. I always say to my self a 3.5, that is a truck driving by my apartment. This though could have been really bad for those as, and I just maybe wrong, buildings and homes are not like they are here and built for big quakes. I am glad to hear all is good.

When we only do non-DCL excusions when we have a full day in port and then only the morning ones so that we have several hours of safe time. Generally we stick to the DCL excusions.

It has been a rough summer with the weather. There was a tornado that went through the area a couple hours north of us.

Jon after her all day DCL tour in Cabo, I don't care about length of port times or anything. If it is not DCL I am not going period.

Yep, I think it is just about time to sell the house, quit the job and just live on a Disney Cruise Ship year round.

The storms have started here already. When I left work it was a HOT, dry 95. As I was driving home, some clouds were gathering and by the time I stopped by the store, there were some light sprinkles. I could not have been inside for more than 20 minutes, but it was POURING when I went to leave. There were people just milling in the entry way waiting for an opening (there is a saying here that if you don't like the weather, wait 10 minutes). It was a really weird transition all taking place in the course of about an hour. There is thunder and lightening going on right now, but that is a common occurrence around here. I hope everyone up the coast (and everywhere else) stays safe! :goodvibes

I'm with you Linda...I'm ready to move onto the ship....We are in Southern Ontario and felt the earthquake today...it was the scariest feeling...I can just imagine what the people closer to the epicentre felt, if I could feel our building shaking....
