April 2021 Cruises Heading Towards Cancellation

Agreed. I’ve known for some time that we would not be on our August Northern European (border closures, quarantine requirements etc) but it’s looking less and less likely that anyone will be. I never would have thought that when we booked last March.

There is still a slight chance of your cruise taking place.. like 10%
The Magic is not restricted by CDC rules as it's slated to sail from Europe
If Covid is tamed somehow, the spread is cut by 30-50% in the EU and they start letting ppl in via vaccine passports...there is a chance.
If you get the 2-dose vaccine by June + Europe opens its borders around that time, it could still happen.

LOL well I guess I knew deep down I just wanted to see what everybody else was thinking. I guess we really want be cruising again until 75 % of the population is having the vaccine cocktail. I just wish they could have cruises for healthy people only leaving the sick and feeble on the docks. Maybe one day we will have cruise category’s that separate us by health and insurance. If you could prove your healthy you would get a huge discount like life insurance. If you are sick and uninsured you would have to pay a premium and possibly quarantined from the rest of the guest on board if they want to take a trip with the healthy guest cruise or ride with the sick peoples cruise for less money.

We are booked for October 2021 as well and recall when we moved it I thought "surely, it will be better by then." :| I am starting to think they may not start cruising until Fall actually and not sure how it will be and would really like to have feedback so not sure if that will even be a go for us!
I'd like to see feedback too. Watch some YouTube videos to see if the different experience would be something that I'm okay with for the price I'm paying.

Based on your suggestion, all guests would have to present their medical files and have a medical team analyze it in order to « classify » people... Not happening.

Is it going to be your first cruise?

I’m only asking because it’s a well known fact that they already leave people who are sick at the cruise terminal, quarantine when they have symptoms, etc.

We always had to fill out a health form asking us if we have had fever, cough, nausea, vomiting up in the last days... before boarding.

When they learn that someone is sick, that person is quarantined in their stateroom and can be subjected to a medical exam. They can be hospitalized on the ship and even medivac if it’s severe.

It’s always been like that.

I have a feeling that when the PP said "sick", they meant "sickly". As in having pre-existing conditions, such as a heart condition, obesity, etc., because they said "sick and feeble". Not "sick" as in having a fever or a cough.

And no, I can't imagine DCL banning the weak from their cruise ships, even temporarily. It's a vacation, not the army.

I have been on seven. Not al with DCL. I was just being silly I know they want take into account pre- existing conditions or certain number high risk groups. It just seems to me this might be a possible solution to their problems. The insurance industry uses medical history to exclude and up charge their clients on medical plans so why not other industries. Most healthy people who contract the virus for example have few medical problems just mild symptoms of course there are exceptions. I’m just suggesting if you are not going to exclude certain high risk groups you should up charge them and have them provide evidence of certain insurances before departing. If they want to start cruising sooner rather than later it might come to pass. I read an example of another cruise line that came back in because a 82 year old popped positive for the virus. Everybody lost a couple of days of the trip and when on shore he tested negative twice I believe. I am fuzzy on the details but this happenied a few weeks ago I think. So who gets the shaft for a couple of days lost off the trip the 82 year who had a false positive. I’m guessing the quarantine would have been lifted after he tested negative. At lest the perfectly healthy might not have suffered through that anyway. So what happens to one happens to all. I think I will be glad to wait on cruising until cruise lines can give detailed explanations of new protcals to their guest. That is why I got so peeved when they would not inform us of their intentions for March. It should not be left up to the paying guest to roll the dice so to speak for the fcc. We all deserve more from them than a guessing game.

Our cruise was a Passholder discount with the OBC which we already changed once from November '20 to April '21. My understanding was we could only make one change so I wonder if they'll let the original discounts move to the next cruise.
If by "passholder discount" you mean an onboard booking/placeholder - I don't believe there has ever been a limit on how many times you can push that forward as long as the new date is within the expiration. You could run into expiration issues, but I think OBBs expirations have been pushed out if they were impacted by the closures. I don't recall specifics - maybe May 2022? You may need to wait for the current booking to officially be canceled, though, to push it further forward.

I am not trying to be Chicken Little, but I’d be SHOCKED if any cruises in 2021 occur. The big domino to me is June when the heights of cruising are booked and the DVC member voyage gets canceled. That’s when the fan will get hit.

Yeah... Not looking good. This pandemic. Not under control. Nor is our way of dealing with it or living with it. Very discouraging and upsetting. I have been watching Disney movies all morning. One- because I about to cancel my June cruise because there is no way we are going. And two- the news is just too upsetting. I want to hide under my bed. I am tired. I wish this would end. Mostly to save lives. And then to save my sanity. :(

Yes, the news of the last few days has brought be to a new level of Covid fatigue. I’m just so exhausted with it all.

I know. Sometimes it even seems like the news media want us to be fearful, frustrated, and exhausted.
Yes! The more they make the news seem scary, the more people are fascinated by it and watch it. Then their ratings go up and they make more money. They don't have any incentive to report facts that aren't "exciting". The articles and clips that have the scariest information are the ones that get shared across the internet.

As well as the articles and opinion pieces that are the most divisive.

I am seeing less and less divisiveness anymore. It will soon get to the point that any dissent to the orthodox narrative will be hard to find. More and more sites, platforms, boards, etc. are gatekeeping.
