April 2021 Car Rental Thread

Just got an email from Alamo about last minute specials. A standard car, $622 for the week. Is anyone really going to rent a vehicle at those prices?

Has anyone rented from the CCC recently? Have an upcoming reservation on the 23rd and just checked rates and to my surprise it says there are no cars available.

I was planning to, for May 12, and a few weeks ago there was availability but I wasn't completely decided on it. After reading here I went back last week and all cars were gone.

I now have a car reservation at the Hilton Orlando Lake Buena Vista which is walkable from Disney Springs. So morning of 12th, we will have to bus from CSR to DS, walk to Hilton, park at CSR that night, return it to Hilton in the morning, walk to DS, catch a bus to maybe Boardwalk and walk to Epcot. Had been hoping to use Disney Car Care shuttle instead...

We've never used Uber or the like before, it's possible we would try that for one leg, like with just two of us to pick up the car but I hear those are in short supply too.

I just had to share out of SHEER excitement.

We have our tripped planned for April 23-28. We got crazy stupid cheap flight on Southwest ($250 for all FOUR of us roundtrip), dad gave us a time share trade (Shearton Vistana)-yes I'd rather be onsite, but free is free... so tickets and rental car were the big expense here. I was gob-smacked when I saw the prices! We need something to seat 6 (some friends are coming with us)... I have been through every discount code I could find and the cheapest I was finding a 6 seater vehicle was $899.

I was about to die and trying to price other options.

Then it happened. I'm not sure how. By some grace of God yesterday afternoon I snagged a MINIVAN from Avis for $393 (total with taxes and fees and all), it was a prepay deal but whatever.

I just wanted to share my joy! I booked it so fast before I get that, "the prices have increased in the last few minutes, this is the current price," thing. But it is booked- I have the email.

WOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Congrats on the great rate!

As for your accommodations, you've got a FANTASTIC resort. Be prepared to fall in love with all the space and amenities.....you may never want to stay onsite again!

We check in at SVR tomorrow. Enjoy your trip!

just got back. Was very surprised at Alamo. Arrived on a Saturday afternoon. Only the A side was open, but their lot was packed with any type of vehicle you wanted. I've never seen so many Standard cars and minivans available. maybe everyone returned their cars that morning? Next to no line at checkout.

We had the opposite experience on our pick up day, April 17. The mid-size SUV aisle had a total of 3 vehicles for us to pick from. 3!

Car aisles were definitely well stocked, though. Lots of beautiful Dodge Rams in the compact and mid-size car aisles.
