We just booked our visit for January, and with a trip coming up in April, we decided to take advantage of the DVC discount for annual passes. $399 doesn't go any farther than this... two vacations, nine months apart.
And, of course, that makes the dining decision so much easier... Tables in Wonderland, of course. $75 gets you 20% off everything; spend $375 on food and beverage (including booze) over two vacations? Uh, easy!
We've made dining reservations for April already. We're driving down, so we'll have our car, and will take advantage of that benefit, heading over the WWOHP one day and having dinner at Jiko one night. In January we'll probably fly down, so we'll be beholden to DME and Disney busses, so we'll probably stick with dining in the parks, and/or at our hotel.
We were going to "do something special" this time, like perhaps the backstage safari, especially since we had the car, but I think going to Universal will be enough of an excursion for one trip, so I think we'll aim to do that "something special" in January. I'm pretty sure I've read that there are ways to get to the backstage safari in the morning, even if we're not staying at AKL. Worst case, I suppose, is that we can take a taxi.
It is hard getting excited for these trips, though, because of just how busy things are at work. Now, on top of that, it looks like my company is actually moving the week we're going to be on vacation. So leading up to the trip, I'll have to be doing my work (already hard), and doing more work to make sure that things go smoothly while I'm gone on vacation, and do even-more work to prepare my office for the move. And if that's not enough, I'm taking a class a church up until right before the vacation, and I've got three church committee meetings over the three weeks prior to vacation. Ah! I'm going to need a vacation bad, by the time we drive onto WDW property!
