Well, I've booked the flights and some of the accommodation for our 2006 trip :cool1: There'll be myself, DH and DD.
Just got to 'fill in the gaps' and find somewhere to stay for the first 2 nights (23rd and 24th March) and the last 5 (8th - 13th April :confused3
I've looked online and found a special deal at Regal Palm Resort in Davenport (?) Does anyone know where it is or have they stayed there?
It's $99/night for a 3 bed town house which I'd arrange for the final 5 nights. I'm not too bothered about the first 2 nights as, if we get somewhere too nice, we'll never get DD (7) to leave  .
It doesn't really matter not being too close to WDW as we will be hiring a car.
I'm tempted to wait until nearer the time but am worried with it being the Spring break / Easter.
Any advice anyone?
Thank you. :grouphug:

My family and I stayed in a 3 bedroom condo this past January and LOVED it! :lovestruc The condo was clean, new, and the resort was just lovely! (There was some construction around as the Regal Palms is a fairly new development) We rented through a private owner who gave us a GREAT rate! :cheer2: The pool complex was WONDERFUL! It had a very nice waterslide, a lazy river, a zero depth entry level side to the pool as well as a "quiet" pool and a hot tub.
It took us, in January remember, a max. of 20min to get to the Disney gates. The staff at the Regal Palms was nice and it looked like there was a shuttle vehicle, but we never took advantage since we had a rental car. There is a Publix market just up the road, maybe 1/3 of a mile...also a pizza and chinese place too! I have recommended this resort to all my friends and others and have already reserved a 4 bedroom for next January for our trip with some friends! :cool1:

Thanks for that :cloud9:
It sounds as though we could do far worse. Do you think that $99/night sounds an alright price to pay? We couldn't reserve a hotel room for that in England so it sounds good to me but rentals seem so much cheaper in Orlando :flower:

That's a good rate. I think you could only do slightly better with a private owner, but for the quality and the resort amenities that are to be completed before then, I think it's a great deal! :cheer2:
I know that the private owner we are renting through for 2006, his 3 bedroom is going for just about that same amount, maybe $90 actually. He gave us a GREAT rate for January 2005 of $70 for his 3 bedroom but that was during the slow season and there was construction going on. ;) We are renting his 4 bedroom for $90 a night for 2006, but that's a returning customer rate...I can email you his address if you want to check his website out. :confused3

Yes please.
If you could let me have his address and I'll see.
I'm thinking that maybe he won't want to let for only 5 days right before Easter but it's worth a try :-)

We stayed there in February for our girls weekend and it was really great. We didn't go to Disney so the distance (which wasn't bad at all) wasn't a concern of ours. The pool and slide was awesome and our condo was really nice. I'd recommend it. I think we paid $79 a night for our 3 bedroom condo.

You can do a search for my report, from this month. Onlyoneforme has some good information that I used. It is a nice resort esp. for the price! :goodvibes

I would love the email address as well

Has anyone been recently and can discuss the locked thermostat issue? I would think it would get pretty hot upstairs in a townhouse with a thermostat locked on 75 degrees. This is what I read on TripAdvisor. The website does look great!

We went in late Jan/Feb so the set temperature was fine for us.

Would they perhaps turn the temp setting down to like 70 in the summer? There are windows and patio and balcony doors to open as well as ceiling fans.

We just stayed for 10 days in may. The thermostat was upstairs in both units. and it was locked, but they were set at 73/74, we were fine. I posted a long report a couple weeks ago, try the search mode. We really liked the resort. I will gladly answer any questions :flower:
