April 17, 2016 Magic Eastern cruise meet

Hi I know it's a long way off but thought I'd pop along and introduce us as we're booked onto this sailing and I really need to make it more real.

We are myself, my mum and dd who will be 11 when we sail. We are from England and this will be our 3rd cruise all aboard the beautiful Disney Magic, can't wait to get back onboard and meet you all :yay:

Hello and Welcome!! I can't wait to meet you and your mother and daughter! Where in England are you from? The rest of us on this cruise so far are stuck in snowy Maine with negative temperatures and I believe we all can't wait to get out and be in the sun! I wish April 2016 wasn't so far away. I am dreaming of cruising today for sure, especially as I hear about more snow heading our way. :( Hopefully we can all help pass the time!

Welcome tinkertaylor05!

Thanks for the advice. We booked early seating because we are early eaters.

Can we cruise now? I don't want to shovel anymore(said in my whiniest voice). :)

Is anyone doing Fish Extenders? I can't decide. I seems like a lot of fun but also could be a little stressful. I went to the page to find out more but I couldn't get in for some reason.

We were all for it until we started seeing pics of what some people do...we started stressing about our ideas being good enough and the amount of stuff we would have to bring and decided we might just decorate our door and call it good!

We decided to upgrade from our 2 rooms (1 inside stateroom directly across the hall from 1 family verandah room) to a 1bedroom concierge suite. Might be the only time we can afford to do it so we're going for it...and we got the room we wanted!

Thank you for the welcomes, we are so looking forward to this trip we had to cancel this years due to my mum's health so it gives us something to really focus on. We are from Manchester in the North West of England, no snow here for us you guys can keep it!

Regarding Fish Extenders we have done it on our other sailings, it is really fun it really doesn't have to be extravagant but should be something that doesn't add pressure to your trip.

ccarter congrats on upgrading, you only live once so go for it :)

Awesome! Good for you! You are going to have so much fun on this trip.

I was finally able to log in and see the new boards. They look great and I'm happy to have found our group!!! I will be cruising with DH, DS who will be 11 (turns 12 in June) and DD who will be 8. This will either be our 9th or 10th cruise depending if we can fit one more prior :) (keeping my fingers crossed). We haven't been on the Magic since it was re-imagined and can't wait!! The Magic was the first Disney ship we cruised and where my DD started officially walking.

Welcome! I can't believe we have another 8 year old girl joining us!! So funny! You are in good company. You will love the re-imagined Magic. She is beautiful. We just had the opportunity to cruise on the Magic over Christmas and she is just wonderful. It was fun to see all the changes. I am so glad you found our little group. My oldest son is a little older then yours, he will be 12 on the cruise but maybe they will see each other in the Edge. :) Happy to have someone else to start the countdown with. Only 430 days, 13 hours, 17 min and 10 seconds. (Not that I am counting!) Lol

Hi all, we're currently booked for this trip. We're a family of 6, our oldest will be 22 youngest will be 10, and the two in between will be 18 and 14. We sailed the Magic in 2007 and the Fantasy in 2014. We booked this while on board, and the initial plan is to push it back when Disney releases the fall/winter schedule later this year but we are now talking about staying with this itinerary. We've done four cruises on three lines but always in the November and December time.

The Fantasy is an amazing ship, but we wanted to get back to the Magic. She's our favorite ship.

Hi! Am I allowed to join the fun? I'm not from Maine, you see... :goodvibes

My Mom, aunt and I just switched to this cruise! (I haven't even updated my ticker yet!). I'm Michelle (43 at the time of the cruise), my mom is Vicki and we are in Dallas. My aunt, Eve, is from Oklahoma.

On the dining times, we found we prefer second seating. The couple of times we were in early dining it felt like we had to eat with an eye on the clock and the servers were rushed. Second dining is late, but it makes a relaxing end to the day.

Tinkertaylor's right - fish extenders should be fun! for us, it's about the giving and finding surprises, regardless of what they are.

Michelle

I'm feeling every one of the 427 days left this morning...another blizzard for those of us from Maine and coastal New England...where I am in the mid coast area we are supposed to get 20-25". I'm going to pretend it's sand on the beach at Castaway Cay!

WIFamily, share with us why the Magic is your favorite ship? This will be our first time on her!

Wow, I haven't had a chance to check back here in awhile. How exciting to see all the new people joining! The blizzard here in central Maine didn't happen and I am so thankful. It's still frigid outside though. I keep going on and looking at the port adventures just to see sun and sand:)

And now another blizzard tonight. Man, this winter has been rough! I really wish this cruise was this April not next. Hope you are all staying warm and got that roof raked! Welcome to all the new comers! I am so happy to see our sailing growing. I wish we were part of the new Star Wars at Sea days during the time we go. I was bummed to hear it is just going to be on the Fantasy. My kids would have loved that. (Not that they will not still have an amazing time). I think it would be great if they expanded it to other ships in the future. Those little special parties are always so much fun. Well, stay warm everyone!

Good morning! Thought I would introduce myself and my family. It will be my wife and DD (10 at time of cruise) on this sailing. This will be our 10th Disney cruise. The last time we were on the Magic was in 2003 and we are looking forward to being back on her.

We live a few miles North of Seattle so always nice to get out and go someplace where the sky is blue.

Welcome! It is nice to have someone else join us! We used to live in WA state. :) But Eastern WA (as you can tell from my screen name). Looking forward to meeting you on board in a few short 417 days. ;)

Just a quick hello on this side!! Hope everyone is recovering from the winter!

Sadly it is still winter!! :( My poor kids haven't had outdoor recess in months. I keep waiting for "spring" to really arrive!!! Only 390 days until our cruise!!! <3

Hi, just managed to get some time to come back and visit this discussion. For us, we enjoyed the Magic in 2007 and then the Fantasy in 2014. While the Fantasy is a great ship, it did feel crowded for us. The kids clubs seemed to be barely controlled chaos at times, and if it was busy it could take 10-15 minutes to check in or out the kids. The theaters were packed, the bars were crowded, the family pools were crowded. Still a great time, but more people than I prefer.

The Magic is smaller, so even when at capacity there aren't as many people aboard. I felt the layout / flow of the decks were easier to navigate. I felt the common areas were less crowded, the restaurants were not as hectic, and the kids clubs as well.

I will say though, that the adults only areas of the Fantasy were the best, larger pool / sun deck areas without all the noise. Even the music was much more subdued.

Hi! Just giving a bump! Most of our visiting has been on another site - but in case there are others looking for this cruise - we are here! :-)
