Hello to everyone.

Another day closer to our cruise!

I never would have guessed we would have such an active group this far in advance of our cruise.

But then again this IS the DIS :thumbsup2

My daughter is sailing as only child.
I would love to have Gabby make some friends prior to cruise. She is interested. Our Wonder Sept 09 cruise did not have girls her age participate in the DIS roster or the FE. She did meet a few of the same people @ the OL but no DISers.

Deb T.
Agree totally w/ your bi-line. We are DVC members too. We have stayed @ Beach Club, AKL, SSR and have toured BLT and will stay there after cruise. We love Beach Club the best.

RI has the same week vacation. After looking through the 21 pages, a large majority of the DISers are New Englanders. (original 13 colonies). Not all RI/MA residents are Sox/Pats fans. You would be surprised how many are Yankee/Giant fans. My DH is lifelong.

Thanks for all the well wishes with my mom. If I might take a minute to tell you about her. When she was 52, she was diagnosed with lung cancer. She was told in Pittsburgh they could not operate as it had started to spread. She developed a severe infection and landed in the hospital where I was a young nurse. They came and said, "we have to try something, she is going to die anyway, lets give her a chance". No promises on the outcome. Well that was TWENTY FIVE YEARS ago!! and she has been cancer free ever since living on one lung. She has had health issues in the past 8 years, on oxygen, had a heart attack.... but has bounced back so many times and now at the lovely age of 76 has enjoyed so many grandbabies and such that she never should have. A true miracle. I am the only girl and the baby, having 3 older brothers and live within a few blocks of her and spend every day with her. We have been extremely close and I feel so blessed for the 25 years we should never have had! I know her body is fragile and even just last night she almost stopped breathing, but pulled through it. Last week we they were taking her to physical therapy and she gave me the greatest compliment that will stay with me forever. She was telling the therapist how she couldnt' live without me, how lucky she is to have me, all the things I do for her, ect....... and she said to the lady..... "my daughter is really an angel, you just can't see her wings :littleangel: " I will never forget that comment for the rest of my life...... so when you see me on the cruise next year you will be able to spot me for I will be the one who looks like an angel without any wings! Hug your kids and family today. We are all so blessed to be here together and have each other. :grouphug:

Well said, Amy! :goodvibes We should never take one day with our loved ones for granted. I will continue to keep your mom, you, and your family in my thoughts and prayers.

Scootch,

I wish your Mom well. It seems like a blessing for your family that your Mom got a chance to see, meet, bond and make some memories with her grandchildren. Grandparents are a blessing. They have much to share! God bless to you. You sound like a godsend to your family. :littleangel:
May God smile upon your family allowing you many more days with your Mom.

Thank you for the uplifting story and reminder to enjoy every day we have with our loved ones.

WOW..incredible and all things are possible with God...Amazing story. My mom was a cancer survivor and died of a massive heart attack almost 5 years ago..The things she fought and then to die from her heart..You are blest to have a mom that thinks you are an angel..I'll look for you on our cruise..what color are your wings??? Because I am sure I'll notice them:)

Haha... well my mother is a green fanatic, her whole house has green in it or on it and you can bet every sweater she buys you is green, so that would be my guess.... green.

I just realized it is almost May... so I guess we can say the cruise is "almost 11 months away". :rolleyes1

Scootch,

Blessings to you and your family. Your Mom sounds like a wonderful and strong lady. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree!

I have tears in my eyes reading your story. I have 3 boys and a girl (the youngest). I hope as I get older my daughter and I maintain such a close relationship.

Hi Everyone

Been a little busy so I've not had a chance to check in on the DIS for a few days. But when I do, what do I read but a wonderful, heartwarming story like yours Scootch!

Many blessings to you and your family. I will keep your Mom in my prayers!

Robin

Yes, you can delete my family from your list. The kids, as I call them, have selected a wedding date, so DW and I have to start saving up for the wedding. We probably won't cruise again now until sometime in 2012.

Hi Ed, it was fun cruising with you and your family, I know you will have a DREAM of a cruise next April!!! :thumbsup2

My new dear friends, I am so sad to say my mother earned her angel wings. She passed quietly yesterday. I am doing ok so far, still in a daze a bit. I worry more for my sweet daughters than I do for myself right now. I do feel so blessed for these 25 years and I really believe that will give me so much peace in the coming days, weeks, months. When I look at all the beautiful, smart grandkids she got to enjoy, it really makes me smile. One of the hardest things in her life was losing her granddaughter Lindsey a few years ago to cancer. I know she is in heaven with Lindsey, my dad and all those who have gone before her, and one day we will meet again. Thanks for letting me share a bit of her with you. :grouphug:

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I know you have some difficult days ahead and I will be thinking of you. I am sure your Mom has gone to heaven to be reunited with other loved ones, it is the people who are left behind that have it the hardest I think. I don't care how old you are when you lose your Mom, it always feels exactly the same way. Please know that others are thinking of you. Wendy

Amy, my deepest sympathies. You and your daughters are in my thoughts and prayers. And I know your Mother is now at peace and watching over you all.:littleangel:

Amy my deepest sympathies to you and your entire family. Another angel to watch over you and your family. :littleangel:

Amy, my sincere and heartfelt condolences. It is wonderful that you had an amazing extra 25 years with your dear mother and that she was able to know and enjoy her grandchildren. We should all be so fortunate. The love and bond will remain in everyone's hearts forever. :grouphug:
