April 16 2005? Eastern Magic? 4/16/05

"I can't believe I watched Open Waters last night" :rotfl2: That is so funny! well, that will get you in the mood for the excursion! :earseek:

Your plans sound great! We wanted to do the catamaran but my ds will only be 3yrs old and too little...bummer...maybe next trip :sunny:

My dd is becoming very excited about this trip but she hates to leave the pets behind...we have a dog, cat and 4 hermit crabs. Yeah, we have crabs!! :rotfl:

I just thought to look for a thread for our cruise, 4/16/2005!!!

My family is Myself, DH, DD(turns 6 on April 16th) and DD(4). My brother is also traveling with his DW and 2 sons(8 and 11).

My brother and I with several of our friends had been planning to take a 7 day cruise in the summer 2005. We had been planning for a couple of years. We were completely bummed when Disney came out with the West Coast itinerary. Originally we planned to give up until summer 2007, but in August my DB booked a cat. 4 cabin for Spring break and got waitlisted for first seating. A few weeks later my DH booked us a cat. 9 cabin. We got first seating. None of our friends could swing it for those dates.

The funny thing is about a month after I booked, I was talking to my cousin when she mentioned that her family and her brother's family are taking a Disney cruise. As it turns out, we are all on the same ship! :grouphug: Unfortunately, my family is the only one that got first seating, eventhough we were last to book. :confused3 I wonder if I'll even see any of my relatives since they all have second seating. I think this might be a good thing? :rotfl2: Seriously my DB and I would like to eat together, since we won't plan to do much else together.

My family is flying in on Wednesday. We plan on staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge. We are going to use some old park passes. We are renting a car with Budget, but we plan to use a towncar service after the cruise.

I'm so excited I can hardly stand it. :Pinkbounc I can't wait to not feel like this :cold: .

Well, I finally paid off the balance of the cruise this weekend... GULP!... But I guess that means we are one step closer to actually going! We are going to do the Golden Eagle Catamaran in St Maarten, but I can't decide on St Thomas. I think I want to see St John, so probably either one of the trips to Trunk Bay or Honeymoon Bay.

The kids are getting excited and I've started to pick up a few things like the over the door shoe holder suggested on this board. I thought that was pretty clever... so I'll give it a shot!

Less than 10 weeks to go!

I've picked up a few things, but am still looking for a clear shoe holder. I found a mesh one at Walmart that I may get if I can't find a clear one. I think dh and I have most of the clothes we're going to take since I tried to get all that at last summer's sales, but I still need to get quite a few things for dd. My dd was complaining over the weekend that all I ever talk about is the cruise. LOL Can I help it if I'm a compulsive planner?

Do you live in the Northeast? I found mine at CVS this week. They tend to have seasonal items and rotate their stock, so you may be able to find one there!

We can't wait! A family of 5 -- DH, DS (16), DS (12) and DD (11)! Our second Magic cruise. It is the best! Last year's cruise (4/17/04) spoiled us so we're back again.

We're looking forward to meeting you all!

MargaretMary,
How was the weather last April? I'm contemplating on how much long sleeves/pants we will need?

Thanks

Sue

Hi!
In regard to the question about April 04 weather on the Eastern Magic, it was very nice -- I recall low 80's, very comfortable. There were, however, a few days with iffy weather. Very breezy, choppy seas -- they actually were the days at sea. Not bad enough that you couldn't sit at the pool but not as warm as the others. For some, maybe a sweatshirt day. We were in Orlando the week prior and the weather was freezing! Everyone was running around looking for jackets/sweatshirts, etc. and Disney had none to be found, so I think that cold snap was very unusual and carried through a bit to the next week when we got out to sea.

The islands had beautiful weather, although I remember that St. Thomas was slightly overcast/a few raindrops -- mid 70's for the afternoon. St. Martin and CC weather was wonderful!

I do LOVE air conditioning however I vividly recall that the dining rooms, theatres and public areas were cool at night. I always wore or had a long sleeve top/jacket/sweater to top off whatever I was wearing. Definitely recommend this if you tend to get chilly in a/c.

So, in summary I guess you need to prepare for warm and slightly cool/cool weather. I'd lean more to the warm weather attire with a backup -- just in case!!!

Hope this helps! Write back if you have any more questions!

Thanks. We live in West Virginia. I'll definately stop in at CVS the next time I'm in town. The Dollar Tree has shoe holders, but they're for children and have only 6 pockets. I know we'll need more room than that. In fact, considering all the shoes we'll probably be taking, I may need to pack two of them. :earboy2:

Toni

MargaretMary: Thanks for the weather update :teeth: I hope to pack a little of both as we will be staying a few days at Disney after the trip :flower: On our last cruise (Jan 04) on the Western the weather was hot! and so was Castaway Cay! great cruising weather but when we got back into Orlando :cold: it was like in the low 50's 40's...that's cold for Southen Cali people like me & my family :earseek: :rotfl:

Oh, and WELCOME ABOARD!!! Glad to have you with us! :hourglass its getting closer to cruising time!!

Cool! I didn't know if they had CVS anywhere but in the Northeast. Definitely check it out if you have one near you. I think I spent $4.

I'm guessing that you all know this, but when we were picking out our excursions, we were disappointed that our favorites were not available to us, because the kids club doesn't open until 9:00. The excursions leave before that. Anyway when we called to book our excursion, the CM asked if we wanted one for the other port and my husband said he would if the Clubs were open. The CM said, "They are." We double checked with our travel agent and he said that on port days the clubs start when the excursions do. I looked in my Passporter and there is no indication of this. Also nothing mentioned in the excursion papers we received.

I thought I'd post here in case there are others that thought they couldn't do an excursion because the Kid's Club would be closed.

Hey everyone. Just a quick reminder, now is a good timeto make sure that you have your Birth Certifiates. We were checking lst night and could not find mine. I am glad I realized it early as now I have time to get one without rushing.

So many things to do :earseek: I thought I had my birth certificate, but can't find it. Dh says he has one, but hasn't looked for it yet. I guess we'll both have to have new ones. Luckily dd plays softball and we have the one that she needs every year for allstars.

Dh and I also need to get new drivers licenses. We moved three years ago and still haven't had them changed. I figure the address on the license should match the one on the cruise documents. lol

Like I said, sooooo many things to do.....get all our change cashed in for extra spending money, call Disney Visa and get our rewards card, get a topper for our truck so we can drive it down since our van is on its last legs..... I guess we need to get started since we have....what....something like only two months left?

Are you going alone? I don't know that my DH will be all that interested in the tea. We are planning to go to the brunch with my brother and his wife, but we have no plans to try for the tea.

I'm wondering when I should be trying for certain events. We definitely would like to try the Surial Bath and a massage at the Spa. We also want to do the brunch at Palo, but I have to make a decision on time for these things before I know when the Tea with Wendy is scheduled. I would feel badly if my girls missed out on that. :guilty: My DH says, what they don't know won't hurt them. True, but it doesn't have to be that way, if I knew what times to shoot for or avoid. Am I making any sense or am I planning too much?

I am planning on doing the tea alone unless some of my Dis friends want to join me :) I have it scheduled for the Sun. day at sea @3:00. It is so hard to make plans when there is so much to see and do on the ship :confused3 My dd did the Tea w/Wendy and it is cute but very short...I think we where there maybe 35 or 40 minutes?? They serve cold "tea" I think we had juice and cookies then Wendy chooses two boys to play John & Michael and she reads a story. Honestly, my dd was a bit bored but she was 11 at the time :earboy2: I like it though.

My hubby will do brunch & dinner but alas, no tea....

worse comes to worse...I will sit and relax with my tea, scones & eclairs by my lonesome :goodvibes
