April 13, 2014 - Bahamas Dream Cruise

Hi there,

My family and I will be on this cruise. My girls are 12 and 11 and are very excited! I'm a little worried about feeling seasick but am looking forward to our next Disney experience.

We are planning on going to the Blue Lagoon Island when we arrive in Nassau and doing the sealion encounter. Has anyone else done this before and is it fun?
Katy

It's our first cruise also and I am very prone to seasickness. I plan to try Bonine ahead of time, carry ginger tablets 'just in case' and purchase some sea bands. I want lots of options in my arsenal! I would love to do blue lagoon but am having trouble stomaching the price of the excursions. Anyone have any cheaper options to suggest?

Since the first FE group closed and there seems to be some interest in a second small group, I'm starting FE2. It's limited to the first 11 cabins, so join quickly! I'll try to update here and on the Facebook page. Looking forward to FE fun!!

1. Jamie (mom), Peggy (aunt), Chase (1) Cabin #6076

2. Christy (mom), Wayne (dad), Shannon (aunt) Summerlyn (12), and Chaz (11). Cabin #TBD

3. Courtney (mom), Ginny (Grandmom), and Nicky (8). Cabin # 8666.

Great start! February is a great month to join FE2!:goodvibes

Hi Everyone :)

Most of the participants in Group 1 have already replied on our Facebook Page. If you haven't yet replied on FB please reply to the following here on the DIS....

I'm compiling a spreadsheet for our members to simplify things (I hope) ;)

Would you kindly provide:
the names of the members of your cabin
ages of children
and any special likes, favorite character, etc
any celebrations

Thank you very much!! If you'd like to PM that's fine... if you cannot PM and would prefer to email me my email is desireeduvak at verizon dot net.

:yay::banana::yay::love::cloud9::cool1:

Christy0418 and katyjw - I sent you both PM's to see if your daughters would like to correspond with mine before the cruise. hope to hear from both of you!

I usually take half a dramamine tablet when I travel by train, plane or automobile(!) A whole tablet knocks me right out so good when I'm on an overnight flight but not great during the day so hence only half a tablet. However someone recommended I try the non drowsy version of dramamine so I plan to give them a go when we get to the States (as not sold in the UK).

Yes excursions pricey but this is a once in a lifetime trip for us so sea-lion hugging a must!

My 12 yr old daughter would love to get to know yours as she can also be quite self-conscious too (unlike her 11 yr old sister who makes friends immediately). We will be in cabin 6040. If you daughter would like to email Abi I am happy to swap email addresses with you.

Katy

. Good morning!! My name is Christy. My family and I will be on the dream in April. I have a daughter who is 12 and is shy as well. Would love for them to exchange information.

Sorry unable to PM you Christy as I haven't posted enough posts yet but I'm sure my daughter would like to get in contact with yours too. I have emailed Jodie (sammy01) too as she also has a 12 yr old daughter. What is your email address and I will get Abi to email you.
Katy

Cabins 6598 and 6572.i was wondering if your sons would like to have a pen pal before the trip. My son who is ten was asking me about it so I thought I would ask.

Hi -- I'm sorry, I haven't been on the disboards in a little while, so I just saw this today. My son would love a pen pal. I'll PM you my email address.

I haven't yet totally caught up on this thread -- has anyone set up an informal meet & greet? I took this same cruise last year and we all met at the Vista Cafe on Deck 4 before sailaway and it was nice to put faces to names. We even took a group photo on the staircase.

I'm a single parent, so it would be nice to meet other single parents (or parents traveling without their significant others) to hang out with here and there at the adult pool or have a drink with in the bar. I had a wonderful glass of champagne in Pink last year that I still think about. My son loves the kids club, so he will no doubt be spending a lot of time in there and I'll have a lot of free time.

Hi! We have just set up a quick meet and greet on embarkation day at 3pm at the Bon Voyage bar area that is right off the atrium. Hope to see everyone there!

Sounds great -- we'll be there!

Last year, I remember hearing about various liquor tastings (martini, margarita, etc.) that were fun for those who attended. I attended a margarita tasting on an NCL cruise last fall and it was a blast. Is anyone interested in joining me for one of these tastings? Not sure when they are scheduled. Perhaps someone here has attended one in the past?

This will be our second cruise. Our 13 year old is very interested in participating in all of the kids activities. Our 16 year old daughter is more interested in pool side book reading. Any families with similar age daughters cruising on Apr 13 Dream Cruise? This is my first look at these discussion boards and I'm not sure I'm posting this correctly.

DD=Dear or darling daughter, DS =Dear or darling son, same for husband (DH) and wife (DW)

Any others?:)

My eldest daughter will be 13 in August. We have never been cruising before so are very excited! She too hopes to join in with the kids activities and is looking forward to the freedom on the ship the wave phones will give her. We are from the UK so if your daughter fancies a British email pal then just let me know.
