April 13, 2013 - Western Caribbean Fantasy Cruise

1. Also planning to sign for mixology (with DH and CaliforniaGirl09). Jenn Robinson Brown on the Facebook page is looking into arranging a private mixology tasting with fellow DISers, but she is planning it for Costa May day which won't work for us due to our excursion. If they schedule it for after we are back, it will interfere with early dining for some others. Also thinking about adding a Remy brunch (already booked for Palo brunch, and Palo and Remy dinners). Also on the ship, looking forward to the Midship Detective Agency with my kids, the AquaDuck (since this is our first time on one of the new DCL ships) and Goofy golf.
2. I am thinking about getting a one-day Rain Forest Room pass. Other than that, probably won't do any spa activities.
3. Excursions: turtle farm and Stingray City on GC, dolphins on Cozumel and Chacchoben Mayan Ruins for Costa Maya.
5. We are sharing a cabana with CaliforniaGirl09 on Castaway Cay. Probably not planning any other activities, but looking forward to trying out the new play equipment (wasn't there last time we were on CC).
6. We are currently booked on 12-might Med for June 2014 but not sure if we are going to go. I am the other half of the girls' cruise CaliforniaGirl09 mentioned. Right now we are booked on the 2-day cruise out of San Diego but are hoping to change it to the 5-day San Diego to Vancouver when we re-shop on board. We did the 5-day New York to Canada cruise last Fall as a girls' cruise and had a blast.

Can't believe our trip is so close now. Can't wait!
CALFAN...you have to go on the Med cruise...it is amazing!!!

Hellooooooo........

Anyone out there? I have been in full cruise planning - FE mode for the last few days. I can't be alone???

Let's start some conversation.

What are your cruise plans.....
Me.....
1. once on the ship sign up for mixology and martini tastings. I had heard some cruise meets organized private tastings....wish I would have known. A bit too late for our trip. would be fun!
2. Go to the spa and see what time they are doing the raffles - last year they had some really good giveaways - I won't spend money on spa treatments on ship anymore - but I certainly will spend theirs!
3. Excursions: We are doing a beach break, Salsa Salsa and parasailing.
4. I plan on staying on board in Cozumel - still really bad memories of a past visit to Carlos and Charlies - wow - hung over for 2 days after.
5. I think we are going to rent bikes at CC and explore a bit!
6. Next cruise picked 11/13/14. 4 night on Dream with 2 days at CC!!!

FE Groups - just a reminder, if you signed up, but have decided not to participate, please be kind and remove yourself as there are others that I think want to join.

I am in FULL FE mode...crafting all over the house! So excited to give my gifts...this will be so much fun!!

CALFAN...you have to go on the Med cruise...it is amazing!!!

We have been on one--Calfan and my families went in 2011--this would be round #2! Totally agree, it was amazing!

The cruises leaving San Diego that we were looking at are in May 2014.

... I do not think we are on the fe list anymore? It is ok.
We still have you on "our" list and will continue to so if you're still up for, we are too. If not, too bad cuz we still are ;) I'm not sure how many realized you were taken off so it may not be a big deal to have Heidi just put you back on. Either way, we're still including you...:thumbsup2

...I just want to see my kids smile again:)
I can't think of a better way to take the kids minds off of things than going on this Cruise. There will be plenty to keep them occupied. Check in on the Facebook page for the kids meet and activities.

anyone know if we skip captain s dinner where we can eat. Looking to not go shopping for fancy clothes for that dinner?
As far as I know, Cabanas is an option every night. However, I doubt anyone will even care about what your wearing, so long as you ARE wearing something :confused3

Hard to get your World moving again when it suddenly stops. But not moving forward will make it just that much harder. This trip couldn't have come at a better time for you. Glad your all joining us :flower:

Well, I am so behind the packing and FE curve! I have piles on my dresser in my bedroom but nothing organized. And we are leaving a week from today!!!

I just booked a cheap hotel for the 9th and 10th. Quality inn & suites Kissimmee- on Entry Point Boulevard ( not to be confused with the Irlo Bronson Kissimmee Quality Inn). It's a 2and half star with glowing tripadviser reviews. 4 and 1/2 circles on Tripadviser . 2miles from Animal Kingdom- free parking, wifi, and breakfast.

Not that we are going to Disney World this trip :( but we are going to the Disney outlets and Downtown Disney on the 9th. Maybe some ice cream at Beaches and Cream, walk the Boardwalk and catch illuminations.

I'm trying to think of the best free place to see Wishes instead but can't come up with anything.

Gotta get a little WDW in!

Then, on to Cocoa Beach and Kennedy Space Center on the 11th. Hall of Astronauts on the 12th with the tickets we got free from our Congressman. Somewhere in there, I'd like to visit the Dis Welcome Center and say hi.

And then the cruise woohoo!

I'm doing Mixology also with disers if they reserve that private mixology class. I'd like to do margarita tasting also. I have Palo for dinner on CC day and other than that just relaxing and exploring the ship.

My plan is to do more night life this trip. :)

I'm trying to think of the best free place to see Wishes instead but can't come up with anything.

I got it for you - my absolute favorite place to watch wishes is at the Wilderness Campgounds. They have a beach there (next to the transportation boat launch). They pipe in the music from the show onto the beach. It is GREAT and FREE!!!!

Just get there early enough - you can't drive into that area. If you don't take a boat - you will need to take internal bus transportation.

You can also catch the electrical water pagent there too. I think that is what it is called.

What is the mixology class? Where is everyone finding the information ? Anything else good not to miss? If we. Wear black pants and shirt will that be ok for the two fancy dinners? What are people planning on wearing for other meals? Shorts or dress up as well? Ps thanks for all the advice and support you all are a wise bunch and I truly appreciate your help.

I have been scoping out previous navigators to find out info for days/times of things. Here are the most recent I found. http://disneycruiselineblog.com/201...western-caribbean-cruise-february-16-22-2013/

Yes, black pants and a shirt will be just fine. As long as you stay away from sneaker, t-shirts, tank tops and sweats you will be ok. Just look presentable and you will be fine. Heck....worse case....if you look around and don't feel comfortable with what you are wearing, just head up to Cabana's to eat. No biggie. But, I'm sure when you look around you and see the variety of clothes - you will be fine.

For the rest of the days - I have a black pair of capris that I will wear 2 nights and just bring two tops to go with them. The other nights probably a very casual knit sundress. nothing fancy at all. My DH on casual days will most likely wear a pair of chino pants and interchange a couple polo shirts with them.

Hey there question about men at dinner on casual nights? Acceptable to wear nice shorts on those nights?

Hey there question about men at dinner on casual nights? Acceptable to wear nice shorts on those nights?

I have certainly seen shorts on casual night & men with just a button down shirt on formal night - but this is what I found about dress code. It is their guide - but as others will say - it is not really adhered to by a lot of guests.

From the DCL Site:

Question: What should I wear to dinner? Answer
Dining Dress requirements vary by venue or theme night on your cruise. In general, most meals are "Cruise Casual"no shorts, swimwear or tank tops. Most cruises also have special theme nights with additional attire requirements. Here's a breakdown of these events by cruise itinerary.

On 7-night cruises:
"First night: cruise casualno shorts, swimwear or tank tops
"Three additional "cruise casual" nightsno shorts, swimwear or tank tops
"One pirate or tropical night (deck party)
"One formal and one semi-formal nightformal wear for men: tuxedo or suit; for women: gown or dress; semi-formal wear for men: suit/jacket; for women: dress or pantsuit.

Dress code at Palo on all cruises:
"Men: dress pants and shirt or jacket
"Women: dress or pantsuit
"Please no jeans, shorts, capri pants, flip-flops or tennis shoes

Dress code at Remy on all cruises:
"A tuxedo or jacket (sports or suit jacket) is required with dress pants for men. Ties are optional.
"A cocktail dress, pant suit or skirt/blouse is required for women.
"Please no jeans, shorts, capri pants, flip-flops or tennis shoes.

For cruises that request formalwear attire, Guests can pre-order tailored formalwear rentals and have it delivered directly to their staterooms upon arrival. To learn more, visit Cruiseline Formalwear.

All the buzz seems to be on the Facebook page. There is a mixology class being planned. Look throughout the Facebook group for the recent post about it.
Can't wait!

That's great! We will do that. We could park at Wilderness Lodge and take the boat-I believe it stops at the Campgrounds before heading to MK.

There is a cabana at Serenity Bay available right now!!!!

Go get it if you want it!!!!

Hi everyone-
First off I wish everyone safe travels into port I am excited to be part of such a great group of cruisers and I can't wait to see all of you. The disboards meet will take place on Saturday April 13 at 3:00 in the Vista Cafe on Deck 4. I will have copies of each of the fish extender lists with me and we can make any needed changes at that point. For anyone not a part of the facebook group we have set up some fun meets along the way and I will have a copy of when and where they are so nobody misses out on any of the fun. I am done making tags for all our cruisers, if you requested them I will have them at the Dismeet and if I don't catch you there I will leave them in my fish extender on my door 12022. I hope eveyone is pack and ready to go. I'll see you all in the Florida sunshine on Saturday.

Thanks so much for all your FE organization and keeping everyone informed on the loop. Looking forward to meeting you in person at the DISmeet. Happy trails everyone! Can't wait for Saturday.

It was great meeting some of you. We are home now.....and tired. I love seeing the spring flowers in the yard that were not there when we left.

Sorry for the confusion with any delivery of FEs to our room - I didn't realize until 3rd day that I put the wrong cabin number on the list!!
