April 13, 2013 - Western Caribbean Fantasy Cruise

Hey everyone! I had a quick question about luggage. We are driving down, so we don't have the airline restrictions on number of bags. I know storage space in the room is tight, so we certainly don't plan on overloading on luggage. Just wondered if there was a DCL restriction on number of bags you can bring on the ship. We are not doing any kind of transfer or anything. Just driving to the port, parking, and getting on the ship.

Thanks!!

We're a big group this time. We're driving down Thursday, staying at Comfort Inn Suites in Port, leaving our cars and taking the shuttle. We talked about option 1, but I think it will be too much, so we opted to all take the shuttle. They serve a great breakfast so I thought this would be best for us.
We're from CT, where about?

We are flying down late on the 9th and staying at an Airport Hotel that has free breakfast-maybe Hyatt Place (not Regency).

I'm not sure what we are doing the day of the 10th or where we are staying that night yet. We may do one day of Sea World and then 2 more days after the cruise or maybe we'll sleep in, hit the Disney Outlets and hang around Downtown Disney at night-I'm gonna decide that last minute.

Morning of the 11th, we are driving to Kennedy Space Center. That'll be an early morning. We want to be there by nine AM and tour the main part then do the Hall of Astronauts on the 12th. We'll be at La Quinta Inn and Suites the night of 11th and 12th. According to Trip Advisor, they serve a nice free buffet breakfast. We've always stayed at either Country Inn and Suites or the Radisson so this is a change for us.

It's the first time we are doing more than just sleeping the night before at the port-actually staying in the Port Canaveral area-so it'll be interesting.

I have one way rentals booked and I'm actually wondering if I should turn my rental car in early and use La Quinta's shuttle. I haven't decided that either. I still may do a round trip car rental as I'm not happy with the car rental prices yet. Another thing to add to the last minute decision list-priceline a rental car!

I better pack early to leave myself time to work out the rest of the trip! :badpc:

Just checking in all - wondering if anyone else is leaving out of PVD on SW on Friday? Curious if some of us will be on the same flight??? I know 14 so far on our flight.

Also - how are you handling transportation.

Right now I have a one with minivan with Budget for around $100 and overnight at Marriott Residence Inn the night before.

I'm trying to determine what is easier:
1. Keep car over night - drop off everyone and bags at terminal - return car and then shuttle back to the ship.

2. Drop off everyone at Marriott, return car, shuttle back to Marriott and then take Marriott shuttle to the ship on Saturday.

I'm thinking #1 is best - any thoughts otherwise?

My son and I are flying out of PVD on Southwest on Friday at 8:15. We're staying at the airport hotel and taking the magical express in the morning!

Hi All!!

We are going on our first Disney Cruise for my 50 birthday! We are leaving from New York LGA airport. Myself, my Wife, and 10 year old daughter.

Looking forward to the good times!!

:welcome: martys0403 and e1izabethann65!

Congrats on spending your 50th on a Disney Cruise. I celebrated my 40th on the Disney Magic eight years ago. Sadly, this is the last Disney Cruise for us. :( My oldest starts college in the fall and all spare change will be going to that from now on.

After non-stop viruses, colds and endless coughing in our family for the last couple of months, I am so looking forwards to this cruise! We really need a break!

Hi all don't forget to sign up for the fe if interested.

We're renting a car and staying at the Marriott Residence the night before, too. I'm planning on #1, so we're free to go when we want and don't have to worry about full shuttles, etc. But I've never done it before, so would love to hear also from those with experience :)

I have always dropped of my wife and son along with the baggage and then returned the rental car. At the Hertz they run 2 or 3 shuttle vans and I am always able to jump on the next van being a single rider with no luggage. They do allow you to check in without the whole family present, you just cannot board the ship until your whole party is there.
