You can call us cold for sure! Man, it's super freezing up here ... not a bit of snow on the ground but below freezing during the day, just too bitter for me!!

I'm ready -----> :beach:

Do you have to rent the floats ahead of time or can you rent them that day?

I think you get them when you are there but I'm not sure ... we didn't bother because by the time parasailing was over and we were hanging out in the water, there were PLENTY of them floating around. People use them and then they just leave them there in the water ... they sorta get passed around all day, lol.

Here is a totally off-the-wall question for some of you.

We here in Utah are called "Utahns." We have "Californians" and "Kansans" in our group. But when I talk about all my new friends on this board from Connecticut, what do I call you???? :confused3

Bev

Since Connecticut doesn't really lend it self to an easy nickname like that, I have heard other names. Since the state nickname is the "Nutmeg state" the most popular one I have heard is "Nutmeggers". More recently, my family and I ran into a life time local who referred to himself as a "Swamp Yankee". I thought he was nuts, because he looked it, but I googled it and found that it is a term used to describe people from CT. Personally, I don't want to be known as a swamp anything so I'll stick with "Nutmeggers".

Hi Everyone,
We are booked on the 4/12/08 cruise in a cat 9-2 rooms on deck 2. It is DH, Me, DD 14, DD Friend 14, DD10 & DS 7. I can't wait. CVSPSYCH - I have family that lives in Cooperstown out on Beaver Meadow Road. I am from Saugerties NY. We are flying into Tampa from Newark as that was the cheapest possible fare as Albany or Newburgh were outrageous for all 6 of us to fly - $4,000 compared to $1,100.00. We are renting a car and staying overnight prior in Orlando. My DD 14 - Kali is very outgoing so I am sure she will meet some of your DD. Her Friend also is very outgoing - they look like mut and jeff as my DD is 5 feet and skinny and her df - Alyssa is 6 feet and chunky but a very lovely girl and practically our adopted daughter as she is with us on weekends most cases. My DD10 - Hannah is not too sure - would need someone to come up to her in the kids club and then I think she will be fine. DS 7 - Bryan is very outgoing also - no need to worry about him - don't think we will see him the 2 days at sea. Hope to see everyone!

Welcome, kellydizfan!

Please let Hannah know that there are at least 6 other 10-year-old girls on this sailing, and that's just those who are involved on this disboard. One is my niece who is also a bit quiet, but extremely nice! She's sure to find a new friend!

Bev

Welcome!!!

You have kids with very similar ages as many kids that are traveling. I also have a DD10 so it will be great to have them meet up.

My grandfather was the bar manager of the Otesaga Hotel for many, many years ... he lived in Cooperstown (can't remember the street) and my neices and nephews were all born at Bassett!!

I live in Ct now, lol.

Thanks for the welcome!!! - can't wait - sounds like we will have alot of fun. I actually booked 2 excursions - St. Maarten Under 2 flags island tour and a beach day at St. Thomas. Anybody ever done either of these? I did under 2 flags due to both 14 year olds are taking French and need to do a project on a French Speaking Country - hopefully one of them will get St. Maarten. They are in 2 seperate classes. Well I better go - need to get ready for work.
Thanks!!!
Kelly

It really is a small world-lots of connections to the Cooperstown area.

There seems to be a lot of 10 year old girls going on the cruise. My daughter Caroline is sometimes reserved at first, but generally outgoing once she gets comfortable. It would be fun if the girls could meet ahead of time so they would have familiar faces at the club. Perhaps we could desiginate a place to meet on the ship. Another option would be to meet pre-cruise if people are in the Orlando area ahead of the cruise. We will be flying into Orlando on Thursday, April 10th. We will be renting a car and staying at the Radisson at the port.

With all this very cold Upstate NY weather we are wishing the days away until the cruise.

My DD (Kayla) is also 10 and can be very quiet until you get to know her. I can't believe there are so many 10 year old girls going. I would love to have a place to meet once on board. We aren't able to meet in Orlando before the cruise because we are flying in on Friday night and staying at the airport. Our flight won't land until 11:40pm.

I was a little worried since my daughter and and my son (Tommy, 13) were going to be in separate groups, but there seems to be kids both of their ages, so it should be fine.

I just look at the Cruisecal site that was mentioned on another thread and the day we are in St. Thomas there will be 5 other ships! I thought that St. Thomas was a quiet serene island! Oh well, I guess the more the merrier!(I hope).

I don't know if anyone is looking for dresses for the formal night for their DD, but when we did our RC cruise last summer I ordered dresses from the Pink Princess website and they were really nice. I have two coupon codes to save 10%.

The first one is good until 1/31/08 and saves 10% and free shipping over $85.
EMAIL0108

The second one is good until 2/29/08 and saves 10%, but the free shipping is for over $125. EMAIL0208

The website is www.pinkprincess.com

Here is a picture of one of Kayla's dresses.

This dress was the Emma style, she also had a gold dress that was called Mary, which was also very pretty. For some reason I didn't get a great picture of that whole dress.

We are booked on the April 12, 2008 DCL Eastern - Myself (Mom), DD5 and DS3 from the San Francisco Bay Area, California.

I will be traveling alone with my two children and would appreciate any advice/tips on transportation/lodging logistics.

Here's our basic itinerary:

April 11: Arrive MCO in early evening
April 12 - 19: DCL Eastern
April 19: Kennedy Space Center
April 19 - 26: WDW - Room booked at Contemporary and Animal Kingdom

I will be bringing a double stroller and going to try to limit packing to two large suitcases as I have to wheel everything myself. I am debating between a rental car or car service to and from the cruise/WDW. Benefit of a rental car is that I can store the double stroller and it would be easy to visit the Space Center on the 19th but I worry about logistics of moving the kids and bags myself. Benefit of a car service is that they can drop me off right at the port, but then I have the double stroller onboard (when we don't need it) and how do I get from port to the Space Center to WDW with all our baggage?

What do you all think? Maybe I should get a "rent-a-husband." :) Thank you all for your help!

Hi Skye, welcome to our cruise meet.

We fly in on the 11th, but not until really late so we decided to have a car service take us to the port the morning. I debated renting a car, but didn't want the hassle of returning it that morning and then shuttling to the port. Although I think you may need one coming back if you plan on stopping at the space center.

What if you took a car service there and then picked up a rental car for after. When we used Budget in the summer they had a shuttle, so I would think they would help you put all your stuff in the shuttle van and take you to the rental place to get the car?
