A little background first...
We bought SSR in 2004, stayed there Spring Break 2004 and loved it, but decided we would try each of the WDW DVC's before "settling" upon our favorite. We've since stayed at VWL (Thanksgiving 2005, wow!) and BCV (Spring Break 2006, wow again). We're about to attempt booking BWV for Spring Break 2007. We'll be staying in a studio....and don't tend to spend much time in the room during the day, but like to explore the resorts in the early evening hours. We try to get to bed early (always with the intent to be at rope drop), so we would prefer not to have an exceptionally "noisy view".

Any advice (or really education) you can give us on BWV room views/locations? I know the official views (preferred and standard) and understand the points differential, but I'm wondering if anyone would like to share their likes/dislikes or just information about any particular view/floor/location/room.

Thanks in advance.

lean to hate the preferred view of that silly clown. It gets old on some people fast.

so now I ask for standard view only!

remember if you don't own at BWV - then this is the month to make your reservations there.

It's a preferred view area, I like the Village Green View, that's the courtyard, grassy area. You can see the boardwalk and the BCV from the balcony looking to the left. It wasn't noisy, that I noticed, but I'll bet that if you listened you could hear the boat horn, so maybe that isn't good for you.

Once PV studio that we had for friends had a view of the woodworking of the clown pool, not a nice view at all. However, it turned out to be a dedicated studio, and they were happy.

I think spicecycat is right, try to get the standard view, even if you have to waitlist for it, book right at 7 months. Those views are quiet.

Bobbi :)

We stay boardwalk view both times and in 2br above the big river brewery and both times were surprisingly quiet when the doors were closed and the first time we were on the first floor. Evan if you do get the "noisy views" you should have trouble getting to bed early.

No noisy rooms and I have a 4 year old and 1 year old and have been above the BW, by the front entrance and valet, and at the end of the long hall in a standard view.

Call right at 7 months and try for Preferred view BW guarenteed or Standard View to save points. Can't go wrong with either one.

We have stayed at BWV many, many times, and have pretty much, stayed in every location/view.
We are also a family that stays in many different WDW resorts on a very regular basis. The majority of days spent per year are always at DVC resorts, but we often will stay at a non DVC WDW resort for either the beginning or end of a trip--which lets us save Fri & Sat night pts and also get to enjoy all the wonderful WDW resorts. We have stayed at all WDW resorts with the exception of GF. Most resorts we have stayed at multiple times. We are just WDW resort junkies! LOL :cool1:
We have found BWV to have overall some of the very best resort views at WDW. There is a very low % of villas at BWV to have bad views, compared to other WDW resorts. Without a doubt, BWV does have villas with a less than desirable view, but they are few and far between.
The noise from a BWV has never been a problem for us, once the balcony door is closed. Pretty much, the same as it is at all other WDW resorts with balconies.
The standard view villas are a real steal. They have a view of the front entrance, the bridge leading to the front entrance, a waterway and fountain, and a view of some of Illuminations.
We are spoiled and will ALWAYS get a boardwalk view villa, whenever available. It is without a doubt, a major, major contender for the best view from a WDW resort category-- I kid you not.
If we can not get a boardwalk view villa we will still resrve preferred and request a villa overlooking the village green or the quiet pool, Both of these are great locations.
BTW, please take with a grain of salt, the tales of horrendous walks, to BWV's rooms. BWV/BWI is the same as all the other deluxe resorts, that are housed in one building/adjoining buildings. The halls at BWV are NO longer than the halls at YC, BC, GF, Poly, AKL, WL, etc.
Bottom line....if points are not a factor and boardwalk view villas are available, definitely go for it.
If all boardwalk views are gone and points are still not a factor, they go for a preferred view.
If points are a factor and standard views are avialable, then go for this. However, if BWV is not your home resort, this scenario is unlikely to occur.
Have a great trip!!

We have stayed at BWV several times (its our home resort) and have stayed in all the view areas. None have been noisy. Even our July stay right on the BW with full summer crowds were noisy once the door to our villa was closed. We have young children and they fell to sleep easily and peacefully every night. We loved our BW view as we could see the top of Illuminations from our balcony. :) We have looked over Luna Park, the canal, and the valet area and have enjoyed them all!!!

we stayed at the bwv last month with a preferred view. Our view was of the quiet pool and the canal that leads to mgm. I thought it was a really great view. We were able to see several attractions in the distance including expedition everest. From walking around the boardwalk, it would seem that any view would be a nice one, preferred or not, because of the great location of the resort.

Thanks everyone for the great insights and reassurances regarding the noise. I think we've decided to try for BW view. I take it that within the "preferred view" category, there are other "sub-views"....like BW guaranteed? I guess I'll find out at 9:00AM Tuesday. Thanks again for everyone's insights.

I've stayed at BWV 6 times now...

Preferred Boardwalk views -
BW view - love it! It was mostly quiet with the doors shut-

Preferred water/pool/canal views-
Preferred view - village green - can be very loud after hours w/ door shut
Preferred Swan/canal - VERY quiet - get off at the Swan for bus/boat and it's very close
Preferred Quiet pool - Very quiet - view of MGM/Fantasmic high fireworks/Tower of terror

Standard Views-
Standard views - both by the white bridge - definately quietest/very close to bus stop

Good luck

There are three "room types" at BWV, standard view, preferred view and Boardwalk view. Preferred and Boardwalk view take the same number of points. You may have to take standard when you make your reservation, but waitlist yourself for Boardwalk if that's what you want.

Thanks to everyone for the helpful education and advice. Due to the long Labor Day weekend, today was my first day of eligiblity to call for the 7-month window for my needed dates. I called this morning (9:00AM sharp) and was able to secure the first 4 days of our planned 5 day stay -- a BW view studio. The member services rep said that I got the last one. Having said that, I'm sure there were a few others which opened up as a few BWV owners made their 7-month switch to elsewhere. Hopefully, I'll be as lucky tomorrow morning at 9:00AM (sharp!).

Counting the days until our second Thanksgiving at VWL.
