Apps to Entrees

DS 10 is on DDP. He is great eater but some of our ADR's I see him liking the apps more than the entrees...Anyone know whether they will let you make an app into an entree size portion? I work in fine dining restaurants and we routinely do this for our guests. TIA for any replies

I do think some restaurants will let you substitute a appy for an entree. But I don't believe the portion gets bigger. I think it is just the same size either way.

Someone correct me if I am wrong.

I think most restaruants allow it, but a few do not. I know at Chef's de France I was not allowed to substitute an appetizer for an entree. We were on the DxDDP and I wanted two appetizers, instead of an appetizer and entree. The waiter said it was not allowed and we had to use the plan as stated (appetizer, entree, dessert, and nonalcoholic beverage).

As much as you'd think this would be a no-brainer, for some reason it tends to be hit-and-miss as WDW, depending on location/server/day.

I've heard everything from "not allowed" to "yes" to "yes, and entree sized".

I wasallowed to get the calamari app as entree at Kouzinna on DDP last NYE, but I did not ask to make it an entree portion(that's why I got it). There was no problem when I did it.

We were on DxDP last year, and I did it at Flying Fish. (Salad as app; app as entree.) The issue is that they have to figure out how to ring it into the system so it works. If your server says they can't do it, ask to speak to a manager, who likely *will* know how to do it.

I was just wondering the same thing, because we have an ADR for Brown Derby and I would love the tuna tartare app and the Cobb salad as my entree. I don't care about it being a poor value/use of two credits, it sounds like a nice light lunch while most of their entrees since they went to the combined lunch/dinner menu sound a bit too heavy for midday.
