Approx how many hours have you logged planning your vacation?

I'm a first timer, and since I have booked my flights/hotel, I spend at least 2hours a night researching and planning.

So, that puts me at around 80ish hours, if not more.

:scared1:

How about you? Please let everyone know how many times you have been and the time spent on your most recent trip planning. :)

There is absolutely no telling how many hours I have logged into planning this trip!

I've for sure spent plenty hours on the DIS, read the UG, played around with TGM, prepared every list you can possibly imagine, done quite a bit of pre-shopping, organized and re-organized the Disney Tub in my closet, and had many, many dreams of us arriving in the parks only to realize that I had left EVERYTHING that I needed at home! :rotfl: And there is probably more that I am just not thinking of. :confused3

So I'm sure I've hit 100s of hours by now! :scared1: BUT I have enjoyed every minute of it! :cool1:

On top of that the kids STILL have no clue! They will find out the morning of! :woohoo:

Times have changed
Does anyone rememer their folks planning like this for their trips to Disney?... I sure dont. This disney planning thing has gotten SO involved anymore. I have a lot of fun planning them.. but there are times where I just think...GEESH, where did all this desire to plan come from? We used to just .. GO. :car:
I know I dont plan like this for other vacations.
Oh well.. Like said... I DO enjoy it. It adds to the experience. Kinda makes it feel like the vacation has already started. Builds the excitement a bit.

Since we decided in Feb to make a trip in Sept...I think it would be easier to find out how many hours have NOT been spent planning Disney!

Yep, first timer here too, and I probably log 2-3 hours an evening as well. I am a bit obsessed, but I love learning everything I can! My DH thinks I'm crazy. Perhaps I need a support group?! :)

OMG, A few weeks ago on a Sunday before Memorial day my ds 34 said, I am taking the auto train to Florida on Thursday and staying a week. DGS "wants" mamma to go....to help them. They were going to drive back and ds had shoulder surgery.

I did the summer clothes on Tuesday, packed Wednesday and I flew on Thursday meeting them on Friday. We drove back the following Thursday and Friday. The only issue was the weather. Rained out several days. DOwnpours you could not even walk in.
Can't control that. The weather was to be hot and threat of daily thunder storms, but a tropical depression decided to drench the area.

So we planned and booked everything in one day. MONDAY, airfair was $84 $108 total one way from our local airport on Delta.
Had the tickets needed sent to the hotel, and by THursday at 1 pm were in the Magic Kingdom.
It was crazy.

I never thought I would get there. But with ds driving back and paying most cost except food and goodies we went.

Disney is so healing. :wizard:

I log on for at least 1-2 hrs everyday and this will be my 15th or 16th time (lost track) going to WDW. My DH thinks I'm nuts. I actually remember my dad being an obsessive planner too when it came to disney, and there was no such thing as the internet back then!:earsboy:

I have been to Disney many times for vacation. I also worked there as a CP twice. I have still logged alot of hours planning our Aug. trip....probably 20-30 hours so far, and I have a decent background on what is there, what I want to do, and where I want to eat. My motto is plan now at home rather than waste vacation time to plan while I'm there.

Lets put it this way....I have logged so many hours planning our Grand Gathering since last August that my DH jokes that we would be mortgage free if I got paid for it!!!!:lmao::lmao:

I have to admit that I really enjoy planning the trip! DH laughed at me last year when I had our three page itinerary, including ADR #s, but once we got there, he kept asking me what's next on our list! :rotfl:

As a teacher, I'm used to doing this type of thing for field trips, and it always makes for a smooth trip, so I can't imagine NOT doing this for my own family. :)

This will be our 7th visit to WDW. I have spent countless hours planning previous trips. I would guess at least 100 hours for our trip last year, which was an 11 day event.

This year I am really pulling back on the planning. We're only going for a week and it's a budget trip, so only one character meal. I have found that there is far less planning to do when your plan is to have mostly counter service meals. Total planning time for this trip is under 3 hours, and that includes the time it took to talk DH into it and time on the phone with Disney booking things.

Way too many... I've spent a couple of hours a day for the last six months. Between the books and the web I think I've learned enough for several trips. Now the problem is recalling all the good stuff that I've learned!

Probably at least 50. We started discussing a trip before Christmas, so I immediately got online. I have a ton of notes that I need to organize. Just can't wait to pack.

If I'm supposed to count my Dis, sewing, and shopping times then I'm definitely in the 100-s of hours spent, but that includes all my hobbies, so...

I couldn't even begin to count nor do I even want to know how obsessed I am. I plan for trips when there is no trip in sight. That way when DH says "Let's go" I am already one step ahead. DH thinks that I like planning the trip more than the trip itself.

Oy - I forgot about the books, plus I plan during my lunches - lol.

I must be up to 150....at least.:scared1:

God only knows!! :surfweb: I starting planning my trip late March for Mid May & was on every single day for hours at a time. Now that I'm back I'm still doing it & don't even have a trip in my future. It's just too much fun to stop!!:tinker
