We're headed to WDW for a 5 day weekend on Friday, staying at AKL, and I want to do a DVC tour of Saratga Springs. Any ideas on how long a typical tour/consultation takes? I need to warn the wife in advance. ;)

The actual tour is only about 30-45 minutes, where you see the studio, one, two, and three bedroom villas(the GV is really fun!). If you want to be done then, you can be. Usually, the next section is another 30 minutes, when they explain DVC and how it works, and the price. You can be done in about 1 1/2 hours, even when you stop to eat the food, unless you get chatty, then it can go about 2 hours. There is absolutely no pressure to buy, compared to most timeshare presentations. :)

When we went on our a few years ago it was about 1 hr and we got some fastpasses .DD got some ice cream. When we bought last year we had another one planned but ended up doing it over the phone as F&F was about to end.

Just be warned that DVC usually offers some type of incentive if you tour and buy such as a lower interest rate. If they do and tell you it's only good 3 days, they mean it. So if you're thinking of buying later and financing, you may want to reconsider your plan. If they're still doing the open house for members at SSR or BWV, you could always stop by there and see the units.

just went on ours and they really try and get you in and out they no ur on vacation and really it will last as long as YOU want it to...ours was about 75 min or so

I'd plan for 1 1/2 to 2 hours, but I'd be prepared to spend longer if you need to. It really depends on where you are in your decision-making process. I had no intention of buying the day I went and told them right up front, but I still spent about 1.5 hours.

The tour of the models is okay, but the real benefit is the Q & A time you have there. Be aware, however, that some of the guides are much more knowledgeable than others. I'd do a lot of research --- not only into buying direct from Disney, but also resale -- here on the DIS before you go. That way, you'll know what you don't know and will be able to ask the right questions. You'll also be able to laugh in their face when they tell you only SSR is for sale, or SSR is all that is available from Disney direct. So do your homework.

The guides are very nice, and there is no pressure -- but as Dean said if they have an incentive running for three days, that's for real, not just a sales ploy. That incentive may or may not be important to you.

You should also check here to see what incentives are out there. I'm not in the market, so I don't know, but there have been "Friends & Family" referral incentives in the past that could save big bucks. If one of those is currently available, get a referral from someone here and save some money.
