Appropriate people to tip?

Hey DISers, I have a question concerning WHO can accept tips, not what you tip them. I know any time money gets involved, people get their panties in a bunch. I'm not asking how much you tip, I'm simply asking WHO can accept tips?

In my previous visits, I have tipped the drivers of the magical express after we get our luggage from them, I have tipped mousekeeping, and I've tipped servers/bartenders. Am I missing anything? Who can't accept tips? I've heard there are positions within the resorts who can't accept tips, but I forget who. Is it bell services?

Reason for my asking is I always like to have those tips prepared in cash in advance, so if I am potentially missing people to tip, I'd like to know now and adjust for it. Also, if there is an already-existing thread for this question, let me know! Thanks guys!

Before I go on a trip to Disney, I go to the bank and get $100 in 5's. Since every ATM gives out 20's these days it's nice to have small bills. Here's everyone I can think of to tip:

1) Home Airport Shuttle Driver: We store our car at an offsite lot and take a shuttle to Bradley International Airport. The driver helps us with our luggage and so I think he deserves a tip.

2) Magical Express: Same goes with them when they help us with our luggage (Both too and from)

3) Bell Services: If we store our bags before our room is ready and deliver them.....they also accept beer on the outgoing trip haha.

4) Any restaurant tips I put on my credit card.

5) Taxi's: If we're out late maybe at the Boardwalk and need to get back to the Polynesian we always tip any taxi driver, haven't done the Minnie Vans yet.

6) Housekeeping: I always leave a tip for the housekeeping service with a note next to the money so they know that it is for them.

All good tips. We are getting dropped off at the air port by a family member I believe. For some reason I had it in my head that bell services couldn't accept tips. Maybe I'm thinking of the greeter at the door? Not sure. I heard somewhere that a certain role in the resorts was not able to accept tips. Anyways, I'll keep bell services in mind. I always use the buses since they're included, sometimes I highly consider using them though. If in the event we take a mini van, I'll tip them of course. Mousekeeping, I always left $5 a day in envelope.

Also, if you use the airline check-in service at the hotel, the “skycap” might expect a tip.

We tip the DME driver, bell services, and servers.

Yes there are many Cast member roles. Once you are on property the tipped positions at WDW are valet parking, Bell Services, Minne Van drivers, and food & beverage servers.

Also (unless it's changed), the CM's in non tipped positions can accept tips if they've declined three times and you're still offering. The downside is that they're not allowed to keep those tips, but give it to Disney. Some will keep it anyway though.

Yes. Front desk CMs may not accept tips, and club level CMs may not accept cash tips, though I understand that it's acceptable (but not expected or required) to give them a small gift such as candy. I believe Disney Transportation CMs (bus drivers, monorail personnel, boat CMs) can't accept tips, either.

You're going to run into CMs in dozens if not hundreds of different roles on-property. The list of those who are not customarily tipped is very, very long. CMs working the rides, cashiers in shops, security guards, guest services CMs. Whether or not they're forbidden to accept tips, I don't know.

If you're worried that you're going to miss someone who's supposed to be tipped, these are the so-called "tipped positions" - meaning that they're paid a lower wage with the understanding that some of their wages will be made up by tips. In other words, tips are expected if one of these people assists you:

Bell services
Valet parking
Your server at a table-service restaurant
Your Minnie Van driver
Bartenders

Some people choose to tip Magical Express drivers and housekeepers. This is not expected or required, however. Entirely optional.

optional in general, yes. It is, however, customary (vs. required) to tip anyone who handles one's luggage. Guests who show luggage under the DME bus should be aware of this.

Also, guests whose luggage is transported directly to the resort by truck should be aware that Disney tips Bell Services for its delivery to the room.

Yes,the Resort Airline Check-in Personnel should be tipped just like you would if you were dropping off luggage curbside to Personnel at the Airport.

At WDW, Disney considers the following positions to be tipped positions: Bell Services, Valet Parking, Food & Beverage Servers. The rest are considered non-tipped positions and are paid to reflect that.

If you have a CM at a resort get a cab for you it is customary to tip them as well as the cab driver.

Well if we are now going to the limits, you should also tip at the Harmony Barber shop in the MK, Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique at DS or for personal services at any of the Health Club / Spas / Salons on property.

The maintenance worker who got my diamond earring out of the drain of our sink at ASMo was not allowed to accept tips. We tried. If I had known they had to refuse 3 times, I would have offered 4.
