Applying for passports

Florida has 2 kinds of Birth certificates. One is approx 8 1/2X 11 and the other is 5X8 or so. I happened to have asked for both when I went to pick up a copy for my son.
You have everything you need. A drivers license will be needed as well.

Adults are $110
Childrens are $80 (both parents have to be there or you will need a notorized letter from the other parent)

You write a seperate check for each passport and then there will be a seperate charge to the post office which is paid seperately.
The post office will look at all the docs, attach the pictures, and take the application along with the original birth certificate and send them off for you.
Approx 4-6 weeks later, you will receive the passport in the mail. The Birth Certs will arrive seperately.

Both of them are 8 1/2 x 11. They are on the same paper, same border, same watermarks, same seal in the same place, etc., one just has a few extra lines on it. I will call tomorrow and check it out. Thanks for telling me about separate checks - I don't normally carry them around and I was planning on bringing one check with me. We'll both have our DL's and expired passports. DH's is definitely ok, his only expired last year. I was either 15 or 16 when I got mine, I will have to look.

If I got mine when I was 15, will I need my BC as well? Or will just my old passport, DL, and marriage cert work?

So true, both parents do not have to be there. I know with my step daughter that wouldn't have been possible, one parent lives in L.A., and the other lives in Pittsburgh.

Yep - DH couldn't get off work during post office hours so I downloaded the consent form and he had it notarized.

Two things:
Do you have an appointment? My county does not allow "walk-ins". You have to set something up ahead of time. When I called to make my appt they were booked for like 4 weeks :scared1:

Double check what method of payment are accepted. My county does not allow you to pay with credit cards and I never carry more than like $20 cash so I ended up writing a check out of my business account (Thank goodness I had the checkbook in my car).

Good luck and happy travels :goodvibes

I called the Vital Statistics office - they said DD's BC is fine, they just added more information to the form after the year she was born. I also found my passport, I got it when I was 16 and it says was good for 10 years, so that means I am just renewing an adult passport, right?
