Applying for food stamps...am I getting scammed?

My sister is about to have a kid and she needs food stamps.

She came to me today with a written up paper saying that I need to sign it and provide my social security because the people she is getting food stamps need these information?

The paper written was saying that she lives with me and that she is also paying rent here. What im worried about is giving out my social to her because we are really not that close and am worried it could be other things as she's trying to use my SS for food stamps?

Please give me some inputs.. Thanks in advance

When my cousin rented my house I had to write one of these letters that stated where she lived, how much she paid, but I didn't have to provide my Social Security number. She was a laid off teacher and went on benefits. I would call a local branch for verify. I am wondering would they ask that for YOUR income purposes. I don't know. Doesn't sound right to me. Do you think your sister might scam you?

Use Caution:
If she is paying you rent then that is income which should be reported to the IRS and if you are not you can end up in a mess of back taxex being owed.
My husbands grandmother applied for food stamps and medicaid and they asked her about rent and she told them what she was paying and to who and the Medicaid office turned them into the IRS and they got in big trouble for not claiming it as income and their ended up being a family fued over it.
