Does anyone know if it is true or not true that you can talk to Guest Relations at a location outside the entrance of AK? I read something online, but it was not clear. If it is true, could I go with my son the day of our resort day (at AKL) which is the day before we go to AK?

Some people have been successful in getting a DAS from outside the park ( I have added people to my DAS outside the MK) but this does not mean you will be able to get one outside the park.

I apologize, but I didn't follow your answer. Was that a "maybe" or a definite "no?" Thanks!

Maybe. If the outside Guest Relations location is not overwhelmed with ticket issues, and has the correct equipment available/functioning, they are capable of issuing a DAS. Most successful reports of this have been at the International Gateway entrance for Epcot (entrance from the Beach Club), and at MK. I just haven't read much about people trying at AK, but that doesn't mean it isn't possible.

Enjoy your vacation!

AK Guest Services outside may be more likely to be able to process a DAS, because it's connected to - maybe even in the same room as - Guest Services inside.

That's helpful info. I think I'll try to get a clear answer when we arrive and if we decide we'd rather take the time out of our resort day, I'll take DS over and get him registered. Or, just take the time on our first park day which is at AK the next day.

I'm so glad you asked this. We are in the same boat. It would be easier to do it outside the park while waiting for the rest of our party to join us, but I know it's only a maybe.

all of the parks open the front of the first like at the MK main street is opened an hour before the rest of the park opens.GR also opens when the first guest is let in the park.the only one that is not like this is EPCOT as guest are led before the ball and GR is after the ball. I have been able to get in and get my DAS card and out way before the park opens. if you do get the DAS after the park opens ask them if you can have your first ride added right then and there so that you will not have to walk to the ride itself to get it and can slowly walk to it.

So I know you have to use security and bring your magic band but if you go the day before it won’t use your ticket will it

getting a DAS will not if you do it outside the park I got my parents add to my DAS outside MK and it did not use a ticket for them. but make sure you do not go through the tap things to enter the park

You will need anyone in your party (at least their magic bands) with you to be linked to the DAS. Even if you get the DAS first, you will need to go back to Guest Services to link the others in your party.

I will say that last trip they asked each one in our party in person to scan their bands. I don't know if it's some sort of crack down to make sure that people aren't double dipping (not even sure how that would work), but when I tried with just the bands, they asked to see each person before they were added.

It did not happen the trip before and I don't know if it was just our cast member (always a possibility - consistency is not always a strong suit at GS) but did want to bring it up.

I had a CM ask to see each person too when I tried to get my friend who was coming latter in the day added

We won't be adding them. We are just meeting up for ROL FP, ROL and then dinner at Yak & Yeti. That's a good reminder though. Thanks!

I've received a DAS at the outside AK Guest Relations window on two separate trips in the last 2 years.
