Applying for a scholarship... does the essay get a cover letter??

HOLY cow is it hard to keep an essay under 200 words! But, now that I finally finished it I don't know if I should put a cover sheet on the essay and if so... where could I find a sample online of a cover sheets?

When I applied for a scholarship, I used the essay as a cover letter to my application and other information. I wouldn't worry about putting a cover letter on there, but if you are concerned then go ahead!
