I was looking for a part time job to work at nights and weekends to make some extra money. I don't mind working weekends at all and have done a few restaurant jobs here and there but honestly just a bit tired of the restaurant industry...so I started poking around online and found that my local Disney Store has a few openings.

So I went ahead and applied to my local Disney Store a little over a week ago. I haven't heard anything back yet and am a bit nervous so I am not sure if maybe I should call the store directly? Or maybe that is frowned upon?

I was hoping to get some advice/insight.

Thanks everyone :)

Well, no Disney Store job for me, but here's a couple things that helped me to get a part-time job. In addition to filling out an online application, I also sent a cover letter stating that I would love to support the goals of the employer (church in my case). I also elaborated in the letter about how I had the skills needed to perform the job and addressed each skill the job description was asking for.

I do think you need to do something to get your application to rise above the rest for an interview. I would write and send a letter unless there's a way to email and just reference your online application.

HTH,

I assume that the local store manager is who is conducting the interviews. I would go to the store during a non-busy time (like a Monday morning when they first open) and ask to speak to the GM. Have a copy of your resume and just say that you had applied online and would love the chance to interview. Go in neatly dressed and with a big smile. You probably won't get interviewed right there but you could ask about the selection process and when they might be conducting interviews. You are now a face and not just a name. If the GM isn't there then talk to whoever is the supervisor on at that time and hand them your resume.
