Applied code to prior reservation; how to get credit?

I had made a reservation for OKW and paid first night deposit. Later was able to get it discounted (12 whole dollars!) but it has not shown as a credit on my credit card statement. Is this a problem, or is it handled differently e.g., as a credit on the room account or what?

Again, it is only $12, but that is a souvenir or two!

I asked about what happened if the price changed and was told the whole deposit amount would be credited to the cost of the stay, so you won't get a refund, but you'll owe that much less when you pay the balance.
