My understanding is that you can just tap your iPhone to get in the parks, it does not have to be awake, correct? However for the Apple Watch you have to enter a passcode before tapping in at the parks. Is this correct?

No, with your watch you just tap in. I use it interchangeably with my magic band.

Agree with @CanucksRock above. No need to enter a passcode when using your apple watch.

Not sure. I've been using mine for quite a while now and don't recall how I got it set up in the wallet. IIRC, you needed to do this in the Disney app. But that might be wrong.

Before I can set up Apple wallet (which is where the cards are at) it says I need to set up a passcode. What am I doing wrong?
IIRC (it's been quite a while since I set up my Apple Watch), the iPhone won't let you link your ticket to the Apple Wallet unless you've set a passcode on your phone and/or watch (probably both). The iOS treats your ticket as a credit card, and to add a CC to your Wallet requires a passcode for security purposes.

That sounds familiar. Once you've got it set up you are good to go.

Then how are all these people using their Apple watch to get in without entering a passcode? See above responses.

The passcode is needed to link your ticket to your watch. You have to set a passcode for unlocking your phone in order to put your ticket into the Apple Wallet, which then links it to your Apple Watch.

Once the ticket is in the Apple Wallet and linked to the Watch, the watch works like a MB. The passcode isn't used for that.

If you haven't already enabled Apple wallet with a cc on your watch (or don't already have a passcode set), you need to set up a passcode to use your ticket in the wallet. However, once your ticket is in the wallet, you can enable "Express Mode" for your park ticket, which allows you to use your park pass on your phone or watch without having to unlock your phone or your watch. With express mode enabled, you literally just tap your watch at the mickey head, just like a magic band - no extra steps on the watch required.

This all works fine until you disable passcode. I went through all of the steps, including express mode enabled, but when I turned off passcode the tickets were no longer in my watch wallet. When you try to add it back it says you need to set up a passcode.

The passcode protects all the cards you have on your watch's wallet. Turning it off is not a good idea.

You have to have a passcode set on your watch in order to link credit cards and tickets. You have to enter your passcode when you put your watch on your wrist. Once your watch is unlocked, it stays unlocked, so you don’t have to enter the passcode to use the credit cards or tickets; at least not until you take off your watch.

Passcodes are only used for initial setup and to login to your watch after you put it on. Once you have the watch on put in your passcode then your all set until you take it off. As someone that uses there apple watch to pay for things everywhere I can, you never need a passcode after the initial passcode entry. I would never advise to turn off your passcode.
