Apple vs Buena Vista Scooters?

Apple is cheaper but other than that - are there reasons one might be better than the other? Isn't Buena Vista located on Disney property?

Buena Vista is located on Disney property - on Boardwalk.

Both are on the list of Disney Preferred Vendors, which means both will be allowed to leave ECVs with Bell Services for pick up and delivery.

Both have a long history on the DIS Boards, so either should be fine. I would go with the company that has the scooter model you want and that you feel more comfortable, based on what information is important personally to you.

Apple has a location that is at the entrance to Disney also. Not as close a Buena Vista but within quick easy access if needed.

Have used Buena Vista every time but once--when I used Apple. What a mistake. The scooter died halfway around the World Showcase. Ok, those things happen--charged it up and got back to the resort--Apple promised to meet me with a new scooter at the entrance to Animal Kingdom the next day to swap out the scooter (we wanted to be there early so couldn't wait for them at the resort). They were to call me 20 minutes before they were to be there. I got the phone call--of course was back at Expedition Everest, but left my party and made my way to the entrance lickity-split. I needn't have bothered--over TWO HOURS later and many many phone calls the guys finally showed up. Now I will ONLY use Buena Vista. Lesson learned.

I called BV today and mentioned I'd like to rent for 5 days and would like to pick the scooter up at 8pm, dropping off at 8pm on the 5th day. The gal on the phone kept saying we guarantee drop off by 8am - which would mean 6 days. I'm a bit confused, is that the way BV does it? You have to start with an 8am rental time?

I've got to call them back tomorrow, maybe I'm misunderstanding.

I am sorry you had such a experience. I have had nothing but great service from Apple. They even helped me out with an issue with my own personal scooter before I was ever a customer of theirs. Due to this service, they were the first and only ones I called when we needed a scooter for another member of our party this past January. No issues at all!

I think there are always some bad stories about any company and that most companies also have good stories.

Personally, I've never had any problems with Apple and have had very good experiences with them (including the one time I had a problem with one of their powerchairs, they replaced it in under an hour even though it was out of office hours). I've never rented from Buena Vista, but I do have friends who've had horrible experiences with them, as well as knowing people who've had wonderful experiences with them.

Every company has people who have had good experiences and those with bad. If you look around, you will find people who have had bad experiences from every company and would never rent from them again.
The companies listed in the disABILITIES FAQs thread are there because they have many, many recommendations over the years and the great majority are good.

I've used both companies several times with equal results. Both were positive experiences. I did have battery issues with both and both companies were prompt and efficient and switched out the batteries quickly and with little hassle for me.

I rented a Buena Vista scooter at the Boardwalk for 1 day during our last trip. On our way back from the WS my battery died and my husband had to tow me back to the Boardwalk with his Apple Scooter Since the battery went dead I wasn't charged for the scooter rental

I've read the posts here -- and have a slight twist to the question. I've used ScooterVacations for several years for my father-in-law and now recently add mother-in-law. So we rent 2 scooters for 8 days. Just saw that Apple is cheaper - and called my current company to inquire -- I do get a substancial discount with ScooterVacations and have had great service from them. He stated that the "other" scooters are steel, heavier and have less battery life. If that is the case, then I will gladly pay a bit more for better scooter with known good service.... anyone have any feedback? We only rented on site from Disney for first time several years ago - but it was expensive and not portable for the car/hotel etc.

I think you were told a story. I have the actual scooter that Apple rents, and it is not made of steel. It weighs about 115 lbs with the battery attached. It's battery lasts just fine for a day at the park. I have never had a problem with it not lasting all day.

My suggestion would be to do a google search for each scooter and look at the specs. of both, then make you decision, but I do think it was just someone trying not to lose a sale.

ScooterOrlando does not say the manufacturer on their website, but the scooters they carry are made by a company called EVRider.

You have to look pretty carefully at the pictures since Scooter Vacations gives them different names. ScooterVacations and ScooterOrlando are the same company with different names.
