OKay I'm looking at Macbook Pro still for school. It's the 15 inch 2.33 ghz, I know I will have to get the office because of school. Now I know I can always buy a case elsewhere that's not a problem and I know the protection plan can be bought at a different time. It says one of the option is bill me later, is there a way I can set it up in payments or would I be better or doing the Juniper Visa card?

I'm not sure about all of your question...but I can tell you while I love Mac unless you are a Graphic Artist yor better off spending WAY less and buying a PC Notebook.
The OS on teh MAc's is brillant, but again many things do not run well or at all on a mac. Is there a reason you decided to go with it over a pc?

Service for one, I have a HP laptop and I have had a dell. I've dealt with MAC's before and I do like them. I need something completely functional for school and I refuse to get Vista on a computer right now.

I just bought that nearly exact Macbook Pro you are talking about. I love it!!

I wouldn't go with the Juniper card because their interest rate is ridiculous. I applied for one and got it but when I got my interest rate it was over 24%.

Don't forget to get your education discount. If you are a student you can get a deal on it. I paid just over half of the Apple Care plan (I'm a teacher).

I bought the 2.16 and added an extra gig of memory, which the deal was good because they gave me the online discount for the added memory.

I say go for it! It is a neat computer. I love love love mine!!

I do have the discount, computer is 200 dollars cheaper for me. I'm trying to cut down the price as much as possible if I get this I will be paying for it out of my college money and it all comes down to if I get Financial Aid which probably will be no.

If only they would raise the price level for computers for tax free holiday I would so being buying it then.

The computer has everything I need, I plan to use it for music, my digital camera, and school work. So it has everything I need, and if I need more room I just zip files and that is more memory for me.

Glad you know about the discount...I will tell you that I was planning on the 2.33ghtz but after i told the sales man what I wanted he told me that the difference in speed for what I wanted to do was neglible. He said that I would be better off (and save money) by adding the extra gig of memory. I think i paid $175 for the extra gig of memory and it was installed in under an hour in the store. But you could always add the extra memory at a later date if you watned to in order to save money!

good luck!

I have 1.58 ghz right now I believe on my computer so 2.33 is a huge step up for me.

Just wanted to say that my daughter has a Macbook and loves it. She used to have a Dell, and she says there is no comparison. We got it for her a few weeks ago and received the student discount and a free printer, (after the rebate). We also bought the wireless mouse, but she seems to use the Macbook more without it than with it.

The only problem we're having is getting her to spend some time OFF the Macbook!:)

I have a 17 inch HP Pavallion right now, it's not bad but I'm needing something that I can travel better with, especially if I do get internships that are out of of town within the next year or two. They have good customer service too, I have noticed.

Bill Me Later is monthly payments. It is a credit line that is given from Bill Me Later for participating merchants.

You're welcome, it's how I paid for my Mac because the APR was actually a little less than the ones offered from Best Buy, Circuit City or the couple of other places I tried.

It's cheaper for me to go through Apple than other places. Apple offers me a discount along with the fact I get free shipping.

We switched to Mac a while ago, and we're not looking back! We were so tired of fixing the constant problems with our PC's, so after my dd's computer crashed we replaced it with a Mac Mini (it cost around $600, and is smaller then a kids size shoe box). It's been almost a year now, and we haven't had a single quirk or problem with it, and it's incredibly user friendly. There's definitely a short learning curve, and I'm still trying to figure out all the short cuts, but it seems that there are a lot less clicks and just about everything is easier with a Mac. We just ordered the 20" , 2.16GB iMac, and I can't wait for it to get here!

I agree it is annoying to constantly be fixing the PC. I have to run constant scans on this computer and I have to watch at school that I can't get a virus. I have worked with MACS but it's been a few years and I miss them now.

Macs are definately way less of a hassel as you guys say...I guess that fact that I am a big gamer turns me off of macs most of the time. Like I said howveer as a graphic person the MAc is by FAR the better bet.

And Vista is a piece of garbage right now so I agree not to even mess with it.

Macs are definatley user friendly....again other then for my graphics I find it useless (to me) for the cost of it. Just my opinion. That said I have a friend that swears by mac and will buy nothing but things made by apple.

I'm not in it for gaming. I'm a journalism major, I use the computer for music and pictures. I need something not as bulky for travel.

OKay I'm looking at the other 15 inch too. My current computer is a 17 inch HP Pavllion dv8000 with the following:

Memory: 512 MB
Hard Drive: 186.11 GB
Processor: AMD Turion(tm) 64 Mobile Technology ML-40
version x86 Family 15 Model 36 Stepping 2
current speed 2190 MHz
cache size 1024 KB

So I'm looking at either the 2.33 ghz or the 2.16 ghz. I don't know the differences with this stuff so if anyone can give some advice, it would be appreciated.

the only reason to buy the 2.33 is for the memory upgrade and the better video card. if you're not doing anything video intensive, buy the stock 2.16.

you can buy an additional 1 meg of memory cheaper online than through Apple. it's very easy to add it yourself and save money.
