This weekend, I will be doing whatever I want! This is a me weekend. Anyone else with me on this?? I have been working hard, coping not to well with my DD getting on the bus at 7:10 am (too early for me!!) and doing homework with her (while at the same time, I am learning all over again). And going up to my place in NH and just doing lots of work up there.

I am going to stay home, do some laundry, rearrange me and my DD's bedrooms, actually some serious remodeling in her room, go pick apples and make pies, and maybe an apple crisp.

Sounds like a lot but it is what I want to do. My dd asked me if her friends could sleep over and I said NO. She can sleep out this weekend if she wants though.

I am also giving blood tomorrow. I haven't done that in about 1 year. Last year I got so faint they almost called 911! That's never happened to me. I was on that special bed where I looked like death and don't you know I saw everyone I knew! I wish I got a picture of me then. Man it would have been a conversation piece!

It's all about me, me, me this weekend.

Have a great weekend. I will just have to imagine those yummy apple pies. Too many refined carbs for me, I fear ;)

Oh cool.

We are trying to plan a Sunday in the next couple of weeks to get out to Marino Lookout Farm to go apple picking soon. I'm hoping for decent weather.

DH makes the apple pies around here, and they are YUMMY.

I make homemade applesauce, without all that extra sugar. You just can't believe how much better it tastes!! I freeze it in Ziploc freezer bags and we only eat it on special occasions, like Christmas, birthdays, etc. Now where's my apple corer.....:D

Doe, could I have your recipe for the homemade applesauce or is it a secret? It sounds yummy.

Karen, I'll be happy to send it to you via PM. If anyone else wants it, send me a PM.

Unfortunately, I'll have to post it later. We're off to the Falmouth PA Goat Races today...LOL! It started as a practical joke 25 years ago and now it attracts thousands of people! Go figure!!

Don't forget an easy way to do your applesauce...heat it in your crockpot. More time for your other projects.:D

I also make homemade applesauce but I don't follow a recipe. Just peel the apples and chunk them up. Add some sugar and brown sugar, cinnamon and if I feel like it, nutmeg. Some recipes also call for a small bit of butter at the end when finished. You cook it till it's very tender/mushy. I don't mash my apples but some people will put them thru a ricer or mash them with a hand masher. I like it chunky. You can even eat this hot plain or with ice cream or cream. It is soooo goood and your house smells great. I'm going to the farm today for a bushel of apples.
