Apple/iPhone Rant

I absolutely agree Nikki, I went to my Apple store on Saturday to see about getting a new set of ear buds from my iPhone because the right one stopped working. Well, I had to "make an appointment", of which nothing was available for 3 hours. However there were two genius' at the bar doing nothing and the guy who told me to make an appointment was standing around doing nothing, but no one could not do a simple exchange/return. One of them gave me his card. I will be writing a letter to the store manager and apple customer service and giving them that person's name and telling them how UN-helpful they were.

Not defending Apple's customer service or non-service in their stores, but anytime you want to talk to someone there about a problem, you need to make an appointment online in advance. Then when you go, you usually don't have to wait long. It's just the way they do it.

Just go to the website, pick support, then you pick your store, and it will show you the available appointment times.

Now why people that weren't busy couldn't help you is a whole different issue. That is never the case at our store - appointments are usually not available for days when you go online to schedule one - it's very busy all the time.

While it may be "convenient" to make an appointment, this is a poor business model. Yes, professionals like doctors and lawyers do require an appointment but the Apple store isn't in that same classification. They are a retail operation and the sheer fact that they are retail means that appointments shouldn't be necessary.

Like I said, I wasn't defending their business model or their customer service, just stating what their practice is.

Flash forward to this morning when I open up the package and set the dock up. Did you know that you have to take your iPhone out of its case in order to use the charging dock? <--- Annoyance #3

To be continued next weekend after another trip to Apple...

I have a Sony radio/dock and mine fits without removing the case. Or at least it did while I was using an Agent 18 Slimshield case. (I think that's what it's called - it looks like they've changed the names since I bought mine.) The key is finding a case that has a low profile along the bottom. I got a new case about a week ago (incase, metallic, looks like chrome) and it's all shiny and stuff, but not only does it not fit on my dock, it doesn't even attach to a standard charger without removing the bottom slider part. I frequently have my phone in my purse with the battery backup attached (Dexim battery backup) and it doesn't fit without the slider removed, either. I don't like my iPhone to be out of its bubble at all, so needless to say, I'll be replacing this case soon.
