Apple Dumpling question

I just made these for the first time last night.

We ate them when they were still warm with vanilla ice cream. WOW they were good.:thumbsup2

I would suggest using less butter and sugar!! WAY TO sweet (and I have a sweet tooth!) Next time I'm only going to use 1 stick of butter and 3/4 cup sugar.

I think they would heat up good in the microwave. Maybe try heating it at 50% power so that they don't get all gooey.

No, you can wrap them up and save them for another time. They are fine in the microwave.

BAck in high school, our booster club would make up hundreds of them the week before the Apple Harvest Festival in our town. They would be boxed in those plastic containers and would keep fine in the refrigerator. We ALWAYS sold out completely between the parade routes and out at the fairgrounds.

I just left my job as a baker and apple dumplings were one of our specialties. We usually made them 2 days before the festivals or fairs and added just a little extra syrup to the boxes. They actually tasted good withor without being reheated!

Did you use the mountain dew?? I noticed that one person posted that they did not use it and another said they used 1 small one. How much did you use?

Thanks to both of you for replying!!

We used to eat them warm with milk, but I've also eaten them cold (or warm) with ice cream. I prefer warm, just like apple pie.

Just made these two days ago, they were amazing!!! I used half of a mini Mountain Dew.

ooh! Thanks for posting this again! I need to make an "appley" snack for my son's 2nd grade class. I'm guessing they'll love these!

I made these last night. No leftovers so I can't tell you how they would reheat!
I used 1 stick of butter and 1 cup of sugar - could probably lessen the butter a little bit more... I used Mountain Dew - but drizzled it over the top and it probably measured about 1/2 cup.
They were excellent!! This would be an easy recipe to double or triple too!

Thanks everyone. I am going to make these tomorrow night for my coworkers on Thursday. Their my guinea pigs (their all men and love to be the guinea pigs) :lmao:

Hmmm.... now have to debate on whether to bring in vanilla ice cream to go with it :thumbsup2

We literally made THOUSANDS of apple dumplings (the real ones, not with crescent roll dough) as a fund raiser to send our boy scouts to Sea Base and Philmont. Over the fall, we used to make about 400-700 a week and sell them to tailgaters on their way to football games.

I only used about one cup of the mountain dew.

DD heated one up last night in the microwave and said it was just as good as when we had it the night before fresh from the oven :thumbsup2

I made these last night and received nothing but compliments on them. I used 1 stick of butter and 3/4 cup of brown sugar instead of regular. I didn't have any Mountain Dew so did without it and they were so delicious. I served them warm with vanilla ice cream.

I just finished making these; they were an all-around HIT!! And, I used Splenda in place of sugar, and 1/2 butter, 1/2 ICBINB light, AND I used Diet Mtn Dew. :D The look on my daughter's face after she took her first bite was really awesome, and very satisfying! :thumbsup2
